I have a worked collegue whos asked for advice for building his own PC at a descent budget, he has a screen, keyboard, mouse etc already.

    All he needs really is:

*CPU (im guessing a core 2 duo?)
    *CPU Cooler (Artic Freezer 7)
    *RAM
    *PSU
    *MB
    *DVD RW (Sony Opitaric)
*Case (was thinking Antec 300 here)
    *Samsung F3 1GB HDD

My main issue is im not sure what CPU/MB/RAM/PSU to get. His budget around £400-500, with £400 being the ideal pricing.

His use for the PC would be playing music, web browsing, DJ editing, watching movies etc

Was thinking the onboard video card be fine?

What makes you think you would have to use the i530 on that mobo? As I would thought of any 1156 cpu would fit that? UNLESS the S represents something?

he's talking in regards to the integrated graphics on the CPU dude, i would've thought core i5 would be overkill for what he needs it for, especially as he wants it as near to 400 as possible, why dont you take a look at the most recent buyers guide dude? have a look at whats on there.
don't forget if he's watching films etc you might want to get him a blu ray drive... or if he gets his films from a questionable source then he's gonna want something with enough oomph to playback HD files...

hope that gives some avenues for exploration :)

Edit: M7ck got in there like a ninja

Ill try and find the latest buyers guide, sorry but is the latest magazine out in the shops or will I have to subscribe to get the current issue out?

From what bagman has listed thats a pretty good setup there. Ill have to talk to him about the blu ray drive as they are like £50 minium price from what ive seen or get a descent GPU, I think he might be willing to go up to £500
