I was totally going to go off on one at DJDevon but it seems the community has pretty much covered everything I was going to say. This is hardly anything to get a job.

Shame it's an entry level position. Will be looking for a new position soon, with a portfolio I can bring out and experience with vendors as a part-time senior editor, and by that time I will also be getting my PhD (in a somewhat unrelated field). Ideally looking for a salary to match, so entry level just would not be enough.

I like how you say it like it is. My condolences and best of luck to whomever has left.

I'd love to but the commute would be a bit of a challenge.

I think that putting a tea bag in a cup of coffee is reasonable justification for killing a man; it's self defense after all...

As for the job, interesting... I can easily knock out more than 500 words in an email at work. To be honest, I expected it to be more than that.

500 words isn't much but I think that's the point. It forces you to be concise while still getting your points across. It's been a while since I was bored enough to do a word count of a Custom PC magazine article but I imagine 500 words is about average for their new kit reviews.

    Good luck to the applicants.

Evidently it's an unreasonably big expectation as it is. Gotta love that guy's work ethic.

That's where you're going wrong: you teabagged a cup of coffee. That's just wrong on so many levels.

He's already a quarter of the way there with his rant. Only another 367 words to go :)
