    As long as it's 64 bit any version of window 7 will be fine with 16gb.

    I think it's ridiculous that Win7 has these artificial ram limits..

    * Starter: 8GB
    * Home Basic: 8GB
    * Home Premium: 16GB
    * Professional: 192GB
    * Enterprise: 192GB
    * Ultimate: 192GB

    It's just a massive con - I was basically forced into buying Professional just so that when I do upgrade my ram, I'll have the headroom to do it...sodding m$.

    *end of rant :)

    Well you can't get 64 bit starter/basic so that a coding limitation of 4gb, and how many need more than 16gb outside proper professional users.

    I didn't know you couldn't get Basic 64?

    Anyways, regardless of how many people will be using more than 16GB...is it really that much more work to allow an os to address all installed ram?

    i can imagine the microsoft answer to that question:

    whilst many of customers find the 8GB limit to be well within their needs, we would point professional users to further options in our product line-up

    i.e. getcha wallet out sunshine
