Actually, no. Most warheads in use today are in the 250 Kt range and so while that will wipe out a medium sized city (depending on height of detonation), but the downwind effects will be fairly limited. Iran in a big place, and as I recall their nuclear facilities are in the middle to northeast portion of the country. I admit that I have no idea as to the wind currents, but I can be pretty confident in saying that the risk from fallout is minimal. Modern nuclear weapons are pretty effiecient and create relatively little fallout. This site discusses the fallout effects of a 1 megaton (equal to 1000 kilotons or four times a 250 Kt weapon) surface detonation. Keep in mind that these numbers are just for the area downwind of the blast, not in all directions. Also, keep in mind that fallout is nothing more than tiny pieces of the nuclear fuel of the bomb attached to dust particles. Wash away the dust and the radiation goes with it. Here's another perspective. Remember Chernobyl? That accident released far more radiation than even a large nuclear weapon would and contaminated a massive area. You would expect huge public health effects from such a release, right? Wrong. 20 years later they're having a hard time finding ANY measureable effect on public health from the accident and the resultant release of radiation. It may be there, hidden in the pretty abysmal state of public health in the Ukrane generally, but it can't be too large or it would stick out like a sore thumb. Bottom line, even in the unlikley event that the US does decide to once again use nuclear weapons on a nation that poses no real threat to them, you are unlikley to be seriously threatened in the UAE.

With all the crap happening with Iran and Isreal etc, if they launched a few missles into Iran tomorrow it wouldn't suprise me at all.
