So looking at EVGA's website, they're gonna have a 560 GTX Superclocked edition soon. Just wondering if I might as well just plonk for the 570GTX Superclocked instead. This thread is obviously based on the fact that those monkeys probably won't honour my warranty, all because I used their step-up program, changed address since then, and didn't keep the piece of paper from the stepup, despite me having the original receipt from the original card. Well? I usually try to get the most pricey (not 580 unreasonable pricey), and just use it till it dies or can't play games anymore. Seeing as my 8800GTX gave up the ghost, I am considering upgrading it to either the 560 SC version, or the 570 SC version. I probably won't bother to OC the cards any more than the oc they'll arrive at my door with. Still playing on a 1680 x 1050 res for now, but the whole idea is to get something that's a bit more future proofed. The EVGA superclocked cards also having a ten year warranty helps (provided I don't step-up then change address and lose second invoice, fkers..). Any ideas? I know everyone here will just say get the 560, but hey.
Common sense would dictate to upgrade your cpu, mobo and ssd if you want futureproofing, and before that get a larger monitor. If your 88 gave up the ghost and you want a new card, a 460GTX 768mb or a 5850 would destroy all games at that res, easily. Until you go higher res, save your cash.
I'd say the 560, as then if games get more demanding you have the ability to OC it further. It's also better at DX11 than the 460 or 5850. It's the problem with my 5870, does Dx9 and 10 amazingly, but 11 can be too demanding, espically if lots of tesserlation is envolved.
Never mind, the 560 series card doesn't qualify for the 10 year warranty. It get's a 3 year. Might go for a zotac. Only stupid thing is you have to register the card within 14 days to get the 5 year warranty. Can't really be assured I'd get it that fast shipped from the UK. (am in Greece). I doubt my CPU would be a bottleneck just yet. Nobody upgrades their cpu after one generation, or at least I don't. Upgrading from an i7 920 to something else, when I've only had the set under a year. Nope. I've got an NEC 20WGX2. Glossy screen. Don't want to upgrade that until I have to. Will probably just get a 560.
Not at 1680x1050. Sound more like GTR wants to chin some cash for the sakes of it. With respect. Also a 560 costs more...you get what you pay for. to GTR : getting a cheaper card and going to a 6gbps add in car with a newer Sata III ssd would make your system fly.
Dude, with respect, I went from a Raptor, to an SSD, and yeah the system boots faster etc, yeah the system feels a lot more responsive, but do I need an even faster ssd than the one i've got? Not really.
Get the 570. They're awesome cards. The EVGA 10 year warrenty is pretty impressive on paper, but it sounds like you found out the hard way that they're not to be trusted. Shame, i thought EVGA were good. What about the Gainward Phantom 570? They're getting good reviews and a 3 year warrenty.
Common sense would say that his rig can't get much better. What would you tell him to upgrade to? If you want future proof just get the 570 GTX. They are starting at 250 pounds ATM and it will last for a few years. If you want to save the money get the 560 GTX.
I think 570 may not be worth it. I got one but maybe I think maybe I should of got the 560 over clocked best band for Buck. Then wait till dx 12 or 28nm
