SPST? im figgerin it will have to one that is momentary as to turn the power on the circuit only needs to be connected on the switch for a second...( i used to use the bare ends of wire ) Anyone know? any help much appreciated...... theDC
Well I think you're getting a bit confused. In your post you speak of two different types of switches, toggle and momentary. At the moment the switches on the front of your Lian-Li (both of them) are momentary and therefore would need a momentary to replace them as it's an ATX form factor (AT used toggle's). There is an execption though, some people on the board have mentioned that they have sucessfully replaced the momentary power switch with a toggle kind (press/flip to turn on, press/flip to turn off) however all attempts to do something similar myself have failed, but that might just be down to my motherboard. If you really want to see if you can convert the power switch to a toggle one (I highly doubt you will be able to do it with your reset switch without some serious electronics) then you'll need a toggle switch of the SPST kind. Hope that helps.
confused i am....i guess ill try and see....may just have to stick with a pushbutton! dont think theyll look quite as good in them military safety covers tho... theDC
Well, If you're really after that Military look then I think I have an idea for you. If you notice in movies etc, whenever something gets fired you usually see the driver/pilot flip a switch then press a button. It's hardly ever just a switch. This would be very easy to impliment in a case. You simply wire up the toggle switch in series with the push button. So in order to turn your case on, you'll have to flip the toggle then press the button. This idea, in essence is more of a downgrade than an up but comes with some serious bragging rights and after all, isn't that what it's all about. Oh, and remember. You won't have to toggle the switch every time you wish to power up (you just leave it in its ON state), just turn it off everytime you're about to show someone it. Just an idea I thought you might be interested in.
You can get momentary switches that you can replace the one under the military cover with. They are spring loaded. RadioShack has them. You can also order those military covers seperate.
to awnser yer question a little more clearly ... you need a MOMENTARY SPST ... since the ATX power on header is a 2 wire affair, it will use a single pole, single throw switch. but, it must be momentary, because if it is tripped for 4 seconds, it will just shut the PSU off again. i think this is what you want ignore for the moment that it is dpdt, you could just wire it so that it trips in either direction.
thanks for the help fellas, ill take a trip to the local RS and see what i can find... i think ill be buying them covers separate, found em for 2.50 a pop, pretty cheap, but theres a $25 min order...oh well, looks like ill be buying an extra coupla hundred feet of split loom, you never can get enuf of that stuff.... theDC
