yah, it just collapses the post and you have to click a [view post] link to show it. threads aren't hidden. i don't use it much, it just helps me refrain from getting sucked into flamewars that i'd rather stay out of. it's had a total of three users on it: one who was banned a couple years ago, major, and hippoz. then i realized i could just block hippoz avatar with the hosts file instead of hiding his whole post so i took him off it. (sorry hippoz, nothing against you, i just hate that av)

Having been a member of many large online communities and gaming organisations, I have to say that (touch wood) bit tech is the one that is most devoid of flaming and generally bad behaviour. This is actually the first time that I have heard of anyone getting banned or disciplined for anything that they posted. Kudos to everyone who makes it the friendly and vastly interesting community that it is :) If only some gaming communities could learn a lesson or two from this site  Not naming names :grr:

Really true! Even my "support" forum for my terminal disease is turning into flame wars. Haven't been there in weeks. "He said", "She replied" - crap not helping.

I agree with the forumites in general who say if you don't like what someone's got to say that doesn't make the wrong as long as they aren't slinging bricks through windows. And how would major accomplish 3,000 posts if they were all flame and no help? (Not that I've ever seen one of his, I don't think. So what do I know?)

Oh, damn it all to hell. I'd never really looked at the avatar too closely, and obviously what has now been seen cannot be unseen etc etc

Personally? The fact that you have tried to evade locked threads, kept up arguments that needed to be dropped, are unable to distance your self personally from discussions, and how have 2 accounts in direct violation of the forum rules means you have a few issues. You might also consider that, while you are entitled to your opinions, there are ways of expressing them that encourage active discussion and not the hardening of positions or out right rage. The fact that you started this thread, and managed to bring up Christians, Muslims, and the MPs is worrisome. I might even had some sympathy for you had you just left it at the first paragraph. I think the global ignore was a nice time out that you just didn't get.

So the next step is logically a ban. You might want to work a tad harder in picking up strong social cues, you'd be amazed at how much richer life is when not pissing everyone around you off. Good luck in the future.

I very much agree with Unicorn, Turbotab and jhanlon303. The fact you felt the need to present your case to the forum members, even though bit-tech is not a user-run forum, sheds light on why the mods and admins made their decision. By the way, by making a second account and posting, you broke this forum rule:

Perhaps a "maturity" vacation is due. Take the time to contemplate what has happened, learn from your mistakes, temper your attitude and delivery. Perhaps sometime in the future you can petition the Admins and be reinstated. In the meantime, you can still visit the forums and see what is up.

The reason this post was made, regardless of duplicate accounts because my main account is pretty much void now, is the fact that I have apparently been posting like a troll, and when a troll is on a forum, then you know the troll, everyone knows who it is. And this is exactly the response I was trying to get, half of you are stating that I should go, and the other half have no problem with me what so ever, opinions are massively different on here. The forum is not for the admins only, it is for the users, and you might say the forum is run by the mods, but without the general posters, this forum would be nothing, a failure, so in my eyes, a forum is never run my mods, it's a public forum, used by the public, and if people have a problem with someone, it's normally blatantly obvious, but in this case, it wasn't.

Chrisb2e9 I think said it as good as it can be said, if you are the minority, you are instantly the troll now on forums, and it's a joke.

If someone has a different opinion to yourself, they are instantly wrong anyway because what they believe in is wrong to your beliefs, and if the forum cannot take new opinions, then that's not my problem.

After being called an idiot, or be told to STFU by a mod, I have every right to be pissed off, because I never attacked a mod personally, I might have said "You are wrong, your opinions are stupid", but I have never said "Bindi, you are an idiot, bugger off".

Right, last post from this account has been made.

As far as bit-tech is concerned, that is a load of rubbish. If you can't express your views in a way that means people don't flame you, the problem is yours, not bit-tech's.

My 2c, Major, you have some, shall we say, interesting opinions on a variety of subjects, which can and do provoke discussion, which is probably a good thing. Though I disagree with most of said opinions, I honly have a problem with how you put yourself across. I'd be happy to see you return if you would put your opinions across without the unpleasantness that often comes with them.

I'm going to step in here because, to be honest, I'm personally offended by the idea that being a minority on this forum is equal to being a troll. That's not the case at all and the bit-tech forum is one which, above all others in my experience, strives to be fair and level-headed. As many of you have pointed out above there's never been any problem with what opinions Major has had - only the way he has expressed them.

Truth be told, no matter what Major says, he was privately warned that his behaviour was getting inappropriate at least twice. I openly and publicly warned him once also and he was invited to take the matter up with the mods and given a chance to enter into a dialogue often - which he never took. Instead, his attention seeking attitude grew worse and his behavior grew more and more inappropriate.

The move to put Major on global ignore was not one that was taken lightly. It was literally discussed by weeks and nearly all members of the staff and mod team contributed their thoughts. The decision was unanimous that Major should be put on global ignore. As for not telling him that he was on global ignore, well that would defeat the point of it - to deprive him of the attention we thought he was so inappropriately seeking. The fact that he chose to spark a big public discussion about the fact rather than taking the matters to the staff only reinforces this and, on top of that, the rampant disregard for the moderator decision and forum rules has not won any favours either.

Bit-tech is an open and friendly community and there is every chance that Major may be allowed to return in the future, as has happened with other members of the forum, but right now he has no place here. The input of the community and our readers is something we hold to be of the utmost importance and will always consider, but judging from reactions in this thread out decision has not been an unpopular one and it's clear from the pages and pages of mod discussion and the multiple complaints we've had from Major that this was the right thing to do.

Anybody who feels otherwise, including Major, is free to take the matter up with me or any other member of the mod team. We've let this thread run it's course so that Major and the community can get some closure, but it has served it's purpose now - so mind the doors.

In accordance with the rules and to make no exception or special privileges: for a second account, goodbye, Major. There are plenty of other forums out there.

I don't care what your opinions are, good/bad/whatever, I'm fed up with being nice and diplomatic about it. We're extremely tolerant and have a vibrant community of fantastic people, but you're just an arrogant tit and no one likes you, so, goodbye. :)
