Im sure many of you guys have seen the project logs. There are some great things happening there. One especially cought my eye; Phire's "Epiphany". It has a very small color LCD that puts mine to shame. Does anyone know how this was done. Is there any switches involved how is it turned on? A guide on how to do this would be cool. And where are those LCDs found. Anyone with info please post.
Our resident LCD God Cheese should have answered all of your questions in his LCD FAQ in the Electronics Forum.
I think he's talking about Phire's TFT screen - not just your basic LCD. I know Phire did the the same thing for his previous project which may have some more details on how it was done. Not sure whether there's any info on that around here though. Also I know DigitalBlueShift (I think) has one too.
All the links to what maybe a guide for this are dead. I found a guide that had the LCD pulled out from one of the 5"1/2 " bays. This guy gives a link to the LCD but its discontinued. Does any-one know what the name or brand of the LCD Phire used? Oh Yeah Acrimonious thanks for the FAQs that helped reslove some issues on my current LCD.
ebay for 5"lcd... They're about $100US and most have the same connectors... 12V in and composite US video in (ntsc or Pal) in other words, you have to convert to composite from S-video or VGA to work it, but it's pretty easy really... http://forums.bit-tech.net/showthread.php?s=&threadid=25930&highlight=Pflumingo+LCD is how I did it...
