looks good to me, but m not really the electronics guru. I dont see and 12V to ground so that is good. Should work, nice and simple.

is there a reason why ppl extend the wires after the invertor instead of the 12v and ground wires? and do cold cathodes use ac or dc(after the invertor) cos i dont think the led will like a high reverse voltage as u would get in ac

The reason is, the inverters are not very prety to look at (especaly if it is shrinkwrapped), so you want to hide it. Alot of people hide it in an empty drive bay, in that baybus circtury, or behind that digi-doc. You could put the inverter right next to the cc, but it would look ugly.

this is before the wires get to the inverter, where it is the 12v line from the molex in the top left (should have explained my diagram a bit better)

it's kinda a bay bus thing see my site in the lian li part. i'm redesigning the circuit as it was shorting on sommet and lighting two cathodes at once. :eeek: :eeek: :eeek:

    /me feels silly
sorry im knackered and have to get up at 7 tomorrow (yeah like thats gonna happen) yeah it looks like it should work tho u would have to be sure the switch can handle the power
how much power do ccs draw and whats the spec of the power after the invertor?
if its high enuf v ac u could have a fake power button rigged up to electrocute people if they try to turn yr pc off
    :hehe: muahahahaha

i made the same circuit before but it was well shoddy but this should be able to handle it (i hope)

switches i'm using maplin FG46A PB Silver Alternate

    Rated at 125V at 3A, 250V at 1A AC

    should be ok i think

    inverter spec

    input voltage : 12V
    output voltage : 180-800V

im still trying to work out wether the output of the invertor is ac or dc oh and i reckon the switch should take it too just thought u might be using some pcb mouted ultramini 5mm square thing about the size of a really small reset button :)

    cya later

    /me collapses on kbd

    hnmj yun hmmmmmmm

    Nice!

Eaterofpies, try getting some sleep, why dont ya. I get up at 7 every morning, so I have to go to bed earlied than normal (10 is normal, sometimes 11).

I would mount the inverters inside the project box, and use longet wires to get the power to the ccs.

I'm guessing the output is AC, due to the lack of diodes and/or large capacitors on the output side of the HV transformer.
