I am getting a logitech g27 soon and I want a proper handbrake for it. I was thinking of having a bar on a hinge and putting a button above it so when you pull it up it hits the button. I could rewire one of the programable buttons on the gear box and solder it to the button. Also I could attach a spring to it to make it feel more real. Any thoughts?
Yeah I dont see any reason why it wouldnt work, though it would only apply the handbreak when the button was fully pressed. Having never driven car I wouldnt know how a handbreak feels when used.
I would go down a scrappy and take a real hand brake lever out of a car or look on ebay, has a pre mounted switch for the hand brake warning light that you can use then too, i'm sure you can disable the ratchet mechanism on them fairly easily and most of them just bolt into the car and come out in one complete unit.
That's a good idea and I think we have a crunche car in our shed. Then it would feel very realistic. Does the stiffness come from the handbrake or from the car because I might need to put springs in it.
logitech g27 is a beauty.... if i don't recall i remember about 2-3 months ago seeing a handbrake for a gaming wheel when i was helping my buddy build his flight sim and racing housing(not sure what to call it)
