I've been raging at a few games recently, finally completed Doom, and I am playing Bioshock Infinite, and both games have been played in fits and starts because of their stupid checkpoint save systems. I don't know when I am going to have to stop playing a game, so when I hit a checkpoint, I stop because I don't want to go further and have to lose a load of progress. It's been getting me so wound up, that I have decided I will not buy games that don't allow me to save when I want.
I hope describing the save system mechanic becomes a staple of the reviews, as it now greatly affects my purchasing decisions.
