Howdy howdy! So lately I've had a lot of friends asking how to build computers, and I got to thinking I should write a guide, something that would be beneficial to people, and informative for people so they can educate themselves about computers. My VERY general overview consists of these 5 parts: Part 1. Basic terms Part 2. Hardware, each component and its main purpose. Part 3. Building the system Part 4. Basic troubleshooting Part 5. Software Right now I'm going over basic terms, but I feel my extremely short list is well, short. Could you nice people recommend some basic terms that are related to computers but not really hardware? I've got basics such as POST, BIOS and gui, but I know there are plenty of basic terms and jargon that I am missing that I think would be very useful to the guide. Anything would be appreciated! Thanks, Matt
it is a *nix command that will wipe your hard drive. hence the next to it. Code: rm -rf /* it is the same thing as Code: del C:\* Please do not include it or use it ever.
A quick google will bring up heaps and heaps of guides. A pc noob could read every night for a week, and learn not just how to build a pc, but volt mod, liquid cool, even put it under LN2! I think they will not want to read any guide that you write up for them, i think they just want someone to hold their hand and make it really easy for them - if there was a chance that you could sell it then i'd say go for it. If they want to seriously learn about pc's, or anything, then they have to read, and/or attend alot of lectures, as you'd know. Do you want to spend the next two years being their lecturer, trying to teach them everything you know about pc's? Is there something you could be doing for yourself with this time? I dunno, working, studying, going somewhere that you want to go, etc?
