I thought it was a bit pants. Not like 10 year old pants, but definitely a pair showing some signs of age. Oh, and the CGI was ****ing terrible. Bloom much? That scene in the bathroom was just shameful. Honestly, the first film was better.
I saw a different post-credits scene. Spoiler Deadpool's hand reaches out from the rubble of the nuclear complex and touches his severed head. The head comes back to life (the mouth's open now, somehow) and says "Shhhh!" before it fades out. Wicked. Thank GOD they didn't kill arguably the most awesome Marvel character ever.
It's always a bad sign when that much effort is put into the marketing. Hugh Jackman was pimped out something 'orible. I bet he was sore after!
Basically people expect too much from these sort of movies. I'm a HUGE comic fan, but unlike some egoistic bigheads *cough*Moore*cough* I know that the meat of the genre lies in print, and I'm happy reading truly brilliant comics and watching simply entertaining movies. If you just look at it as a SciFi/parallel reality kind of movie, Origins isn't half bad. Granted, it falters HORRIBLY in places, but most of the time, Jackman and Schreiber do a fair job salvaging a B-movie script and putting a credible job of giving us some OTT action sequences (the USP of these movies, after all).
Step 1: Spoiler Logan has knobbly looking bone claw things. Step 2: They graft adamantium to his skeleton Step 3: Spoiler His claws are now uber looking blades. Wouldn't they have just been knobbly looking bone claw things - just shiny now ???? And what's with the claws Spoiler acting like light sabres now - cutting through anything with 0 applied effort. Seriously WTF?? Also the effects were so lame. I'm wondering if they rushed them to get the movie out as quick as possible after the leaked version to try to get at least some money. If so, the plan backfired IMO. Those in the know got the leaked version anyway (I waited for the release because I wanted the full special effects deal) so they should have done a proper job for the remaining (paying I might add) public.
Just saw it last night and didn't think it was too bad. Decent enough action film. Some of the cg was bad, especially the close up of his claws in the bathroom. Didn't really notice the plot holes that much, but I usually don't look for those sort of things on the first viewing. Doesn't really follow the comic story line, but was still interesting. If you're in the mood to watch a decent action flick then I'd recommend it.
The way I explained the knobby bone claws to the blades was sabertooth breaking the claws. That does bug me that they can cut through anything like butter. The type of metal doesn't have anything to do with how much effort it should take to cut something. Otherwise, there were several moments that I laughed at but I laughed at Die Hard 4 and Indiana Jones 4 and that didn't mean I enjoyed them any less. It's an action flick, I went in, suspended disbelief as much as I could and enjoyed it for what it was.
I'm no massive fan, don't know much background stuff of xmen, and thought the film was pretty good, sure it was an outright action movie, and some parts made no-sense (such as gambit breaking up the fight between logan and his brother...) Thought the ending was quite poetic in that shooting logan in the head to forget was probably the nicest thing that military dude had done for him, as he wouldnt feel the loss of his wife... Did also have the same thoughts of knobbly bone claws and shiny new ones and their perceived ability to slice through anything, though hugh jackman/ logan is ripped...haha. Took the girlfriend and now i have to get her to watch the other three movies!
I have never read an X-Men comic in my life, but I absolutely LOVE the first X-Men movie. I have to say, this film embarressed me. I'm amazed that I managed to sit through the whole thing. Some parts were so hammy that I cringed; Spoiler Wolverine and sabretooth teaming to fight XI on a chimney Oh well, you can't win them all, Hollywood.
