    I'm a heavy sleeper but that's absurd.

Mod in a relay horn and you should be alright, the thing I'd be worried about is if you sleep through your smoke alarm too :worried:

Anyone remember the Hemel Hempstead (UK) fuel depot explosion 3 years or so back?
I was only a few miles away, but I slept right through it, unlike everyone else in the house!

I remember at uni halls I managed to sleep right through a fire alarm, despite the (incredibly loud) klaxon being right outside my room. What's worse is that there was no drink involved... :\

I also have a CPAP devise. I have found that lights coming on are way more effective than noise.

@john, CPAP is the sleep apnea one right?

try using those halogen lights used in fire alarms and some old fashioned(high school style) bells. Those will surely wake you up.

Hydraulics! When the alarm goes off, have it lift the bed so you fall out.

id love to be like that. at night i sleep with my fone on vibrate and leave it on two glass cleaning cloths on the cabnet beside my bed to stop it rattling on the wood when it goes off and even with the face down the vibrating on the cloths still wakes me up

I wish I could have slept like that in halls, I had a door in the corridor the other side of the wall from my head and every time someone went through it I'd wake up :blah:
