Will an X1600 256MB AGP card for £70 last me for a year or two if I leave the rest of my system as it is?

    Current:
    DFI NF3 250GB
    S754 Clawhammer @2.3GHZ
    2GB RAM
    Usual stuff for the rest.

Depends what you mean by last.

It should be fine, depending on what resolution you run at, the games you'll be playing, and how you configure your games.

    So, maybe. :)

Well. Also being interested in this particular comparison I've had a little dig around the web for what little information I was able to find (mostly Toms hardware) in terms of direct comparisons it would Appear that your current x800 (which you referred to in the 1950 thread) is actually the better of the two cards in most situations but then I really don't know how new their data is or what the specs of the systems for testing where.

I've also looked into doing a firmware flash or similar hack for non VIVO x800's and the only thing I've come up with is a possible hardware mod akin to the type used on the Skt A AMD XP's with conductive paint as there is a similarly broken bridge on some of the x800Pro GPU's (apparently)

Yes, the x800 series cards are more powerful AGP cards for the same price most of the time, the only thing they are lacking is Shader Model 3, which hasn't mattered to me yet.
