Hello everyone. I was wondering if you guys/gals could anwser some of my questions ^^; I'm a bit confused on how Crossfire would work with 2x X1800 XT's. 1. How would I go about putting 2x X1800 XT's in Crossfire. Would I have to get a X1800 XT Crossfire ready and a normal X1800 XT for them to work, or would both have to be Crossfire ready? 2. I'm upgrading from a X800 Pro AGP8x 256MB card, is it worth it now to upgrade, or should I wait till newer video cards/drivers come out, like DirectX 10 and such. 3. What motherboard would you guys/gals recommend along with the 2x X1800 XT's? 4. Which would be more efficent at gaming (because that's mostly what I do) getting a 3700+ or 4000+, or just getting a 4400+ dual-core (Socket 939) to just future proof my processor? Thanks for the help ^^; sorry about the long questions.
to be honest, i would go for a single X1800XT now, ATM they are about £175 delivered from www.overclockers.co.uk ... go for a X2 (939) 3800 and hope you get a good stepping.... the Clockit it to FX-60 speed and you should be fine.... Direct 10X and the ATI R-600 should be out at the end of the year, to they are deffinately worth the wait.. its up to you realy.. deffinately go for a X2 3800+, and then decide if you can live yith your X800 till christmas.. if not, go for an X1800XT, it very good value ATM, or even a GTO if your budget is streached...
Ah, ok, thanks for the reply. I think I can stick with my X800 till the end of the year, I've only been playing CS: Source and random MMORPGs that don't tax my PC alot. (I was really only upgrading for CoD2, FEAR, BF2 and the next gen games coming out ^^)
ive got an X800XL, (PCI-e) and that plays any game, fine. If you have the money for X1800 crossfire, wait until next-gen come out...
