is it worth the upgrade? ive heard things about the extra shaders being a huge help in future games and being a superb single card solution. i favour the x1900 over the 7900's due to the AA+HDR thing and the fact that some 7900's are beginning to fail. just wondering if this will be a worthy upgrade? im using a res of 1680x1050 and im hoping this will be the last dx9 card i have to invest in
Well I would think a X1800 XT is a very nice card though having x3 as many pipelines will deffiantly help in preformance but I woudl think your X1800 would hold up long enough, unless you think you need more preformance. -Fr4nk
well the x1900 doesnt technically have 3 times the pipelines, it just has more shader processors or something. at 1680x1050 the x1800xt is starting to struggle, with hdr/aa enabled on some maps with css it really starts to crawl along, sub 30fps
R580 doesnt really have conventional pipelines, it has 48 pixel shader processors, 16 texture units, 16 pixel output engines and 8 vertex shaders. Instead of what could be considered as a conventional 16 pipeline archi of 16 pixel shaders, 16 texture units and 16 pixel output engines. So Chemo is more correct, but it just boils down to the X1900 being better in the end
