I'm going for the shuttle SD37P2, however I need a quiet, but decent graphics card . Since it can run crossfire, the best choice for my budget is the 1900gt, but I need one that is only a single slot cooler, and is relatively quiet.

    Anyone know who does one?

X1900GT is not a quiet graphics card, unfortunately. As far as I know there are no decent single slot coolers for X1900GT out there.

    Welcome to the forums. :)

Okay, what's your opinion on this:

or are there any other quiet crossfire cards for around £150?

    Hi :)

Well your card has 256Mb Gddr3 (i think) and if that was Gdd4 i'd say thats great. But for heavy textured games like F.e.a.r might suffer. But Personally i find HIS a great company and i had a x800xt by them once and their fans are less that 19Db which is quiet, but im not sure what the AC coolers on the X1900 series are like, but i'd take a look at them :)

Thats the stock cooling for GT's, you wont find many or any single slot soloutions that your looking for, all 3rd party cooling will take up the next slot but ur guarenteed that with the 3rd party cooling that youd get high OC's and very little noise.

the GT's are good cards tho ur better off with X1800XT's at the moment as they perform better than X1900GT's and are on sale at OCUK, tho the only problem is that the X1800XT is dual slot.

On Lowestontheweb site u can get X1800GTO's which have a chance of being unlocked for round the £110 mark, i'd pick two of those up for cableless Crossfire.

Do you even read the thread? the ram has nothing to do with the cooling soloution.

The most important thing is that there single slot coolers :/

Also I havent been keeping tabs on crossfire, did I here that theres now drivers out so that a master card isnt needed?

Yes there are single slot coloutions but dont expect amazing Oc or little noice as Ati's solutions are quite bad, as on the cableless crossfire and looking at ur shuttle unfortunately u cant do it, as you need a official Ati Crossfire chipset not a Intel one with crossfire enabled.

for cableless crossfire to work you need a crossfire mobo and 2 identical cards and the most upto date drivers for it to work....but even then theres a small performance hit as the maching has to pass the data round it insted of the big dongle cable thats used with a master/slave combo crossfire setup.

Got one in the office - it's quite loud at times but it's not as bad as previous cards using the same cooler (X1800XL/X1800GTO).

Here's a nice quote from here

    :)

    Hmm..

Got everything sorted but the graphics card, for the moment I only want one, but later I can add the second. Overclocking isnt important, the cooling in the shuttle has been improved but I probably wont be testing how good it is for a while. I just need that single slot cooler card and to know whether that is a master card, and if not where I can get one from.

Thanks for all the help so far guys!

Anyways you use all your pci's? or do you have a Pci-e x# running a soundcard?

I thought soundcards used pci slots not pci-e, but I don't have one anyway so it's a moot point.

That is correct, pci is for sound cards and pci-e is for gfx cards, what you can do is if the gfx card is facing inwards you can buy a 3rd party cooler for it, tho you'd loose ur ability to get a second card in ther it would increase any Oc'ing and decrease noise levels.

Well, they have a chip called a Pex 8111 and it is being placed on new soundcards In Hong Kong and it allows cards to fit into pci-e *1 and work.

The idea is they are all made as pci-e *1 but supplied with a Pci-e * 1 to Pci adpater. New tech and i thought you might have it.

You may have had a tv tuner card or sata card or anythin in it i was using soundcard as an example

The arctic cooling accelero is a dual slot cooler (at least the one I've got on a certain card that I can't tell you about at the moment is dual slot). :)

Tim please dont tease us like that...argh. Can you give us any clues? :p

    /OT

Yeah the Accelero is dual slot and very tall, probably not a lot of chance fitting it in to a SFF box.
