i just got my rig built, its an x2 4400 on a DFI Ultra D, i got it to 2750 off the bat and although its not prime stable i have just had it rendering for 3hours on both cores and i can play UT2004 and render at the same time and thats fine for me, atleast until i have the time to go through the proper method.

My question is; i have to put 1.60v through it to get it to run memtest @2750 will this dammage it in the long term? (for normal computing, rendering and gaming 1.5 works fine) i dont upgrade often so i dont want it to fry in 6months. the temps never go above 55c and normally its around 50, idle is around 32c.

1.6V is the maximum that I'd put through it. High voltage does reduce lifespan, but it'll still last for a few years like that. As long as the temperatures are fine, you'll be OK :)

Check the specs for the core on your CPU - if the max. temp that you see gets within 10C of the max, then I'd recommend you chill out with the Volts tbh.
