eh? link or proof would be nice. and by "working on", im sure ATI had already started developing or "working on" next, next gen before they sent out the X800 engineering samples...

    heheh!!

Have just read the AnandTech review, not alot between them both really. But if i was to buy either of the two cards myself, right now it would more than likley be the ATI on the power and cooling solution basis.

the retail stock coolers are likely to be different from what you see now.

Man i really don't care who comes out on top.. From the looks from those tests. And how I run games on my PC those cards would be neck and neck! Its awesome to see both doing well and not one sucking.. :D :thumb: Go both cards keeping battling just means we get better stuff!!!

I was mainly referring to the 6800, I would imagine seeing a single slot design from the likes of gainward and co.

As for the X800, I can see them releasing some different designs tbh. I can see some of the branded companies opting to cool the memory quite possibly.

Just to point out, so people don't get confused with the price difference. The 6800 Ultra and the X800Pro are not equivalent models. The 6800 Ultra and the X800 XT PE are equivalent, in price and specs, through nVidia felt a need to introduce an extreme edition in wake of the results from the XT PE. Though this extreme edition will more than likely have a price premium over the X800 XT PE. Not much, but I would consider £399, the likely price of the X800 XT PE that much more acceptable than ~£450 or whatever the ultra wil be. £400 is the limit for me. I've paid £400 before and would again, but no more.

Just to add further to this, benchmarks are becoming increasingly CPU bottle necked by these new cards. If you haven't got a fast P4 or an A64, I wouldn't bother upgrading past a 9800XT really speaking. From what I understand, even an FX-53 is still a bottle neck when put along side an X800/6800. I would wait until more reviews come about before people jump in and buy these graphics cards. It could possibly turn out to be a waste of money with your current system specs.
