Oh no - what are all you red blooded hetrosexual gamers going to do now! The Xbox-2 will have games developed on - on - on a MAC!!! :D

You'll all just have to get a PS3. That or embrace the darkside ;)

    This from the Inq:

WHILE EVERYONE is watching the Playstation 3 we have noticed that XboX 2 development is proceeding apace.

Microsoft promised to send out XboX 2 developer's kit sometime in Q1 next year. This kit will finally have an R500 card inside which means that R500 development is quite advanced. Microsoft's current kit is powered with older Radeon 9800 cards and things will get much faster this time round. Developers have to code on Shader Model 3.0 hardware.

We are not sure which one of G5 machines Microsoft wants to send to developers, but yes it will be a Mac G5. It's kind of funny but you have to remember that XboX 2 uses a RISC CPU and is not Intel X64 compliant CPU anymore.

It will be funny to see this G5 machine running some kind of Windows OS.

Microsoft is doing huge things to make this console successful. A Microsoft OS that runs on G5, a change of its graphic partner from Nvidia to ATI and a risk it for a frisket with a RISC CPU.

That’s a huge step but you always have to be afraid of Sony and its new marriage of convenience with Nvidia

    L'inquage

I have to say that the thought of a G5 running windows is just plain wrong though. :hehe:

    I wonder....

    I wonder....

MS owns virtual PC now, will the dev kit be mostly native or mostly emulated? Of course, I'm assuming it will be mostly native......

I'm assuming it'll mostly not work to the expectations od the developers.

Wow, lol That is going to be hard for "people" to get X2DK now... The first XDK was downloaded by thousands of people.

It would be pretty stupid to make a console that only plays emulated games... :hehe:

Well, as there's already Office Mac, and .NET's getting a BSD port (So it can run under OSX), are you all that surprised?

Pearpc runs so slow, I guess 150 times slower than it does on an actual mac or something...

Why on earth run something that is already going to be slow (high hardware requirements and such for the X2DK) on something even (way) slower?

Because you're a homebrew developer with a *cough* sub-legitimate *cough* copy of the X2DK?

    Nezuji :)

pearPC will melt if you try to run this. i can guarantee that.

no graphics acceleration for one. and then the fact it takes over 5 hours to instl the first DISC of the OS, can you imagine how slow it is!?

Impossible to get X2DK, Unless if you want to waste $$$ to get the hardware

I have firends who have been using the official X2SDK and dev kit and say it's very very good - they are clammering for shader model 3 support though.
