Xbox 360 Xbox 360 - DVI/Component video with Phono sound?

Hey guys,

I'm looking into buying an Xbox 360 but the only inputs I have left are DVI or Component (Y/Pb/Pr) and I have all my sound through my amp which has phono inputs...

Can this be done?

 

the xbox actually comes with a component AV cable that does exactly what you want - Y/Pb/Pr + phono L/R plugs.

doesn't your amp have any optical inputs? the dolby digital output on the xbox is awesome...

of course, if you're talking about a hifi amp, i understand. you'll probably need to buy an extension phono lead to get the audio to the amp, as it's designed to have all the 5 plugs routed into the same device.

 

Ah bonus, I've looked about but everything I read just goes on about HDMI.

Nope no optical in, it's just a plain ol' stereo amp.

Yeah I will have to buy *another* phone extension cable!

 

Go to poundland, 1.5m extension is cheap.

 

Or you could use an HDMI-DVI converter and use the little audio breakout box, though I think this might only come with the elite.

 

No way in hell the one here sells them, it's rather primitive!

Yeah elite only, i was tempted but don't want to pay the extra just for it.
