If you can get either one of them on their own then you should be able to despatch them with relative ease. After a couple of tries, by sneaking around, I managed to get just the armour bloke to notice me and follow me back a couple of rooms where I kicked his ass. I was cacking it a bit when he was bounding down the stairs, wildly swinging his big microphone thing at me. After I sorted him out it was back up to the top to deal with matey.

For my character I chose a dark elf for some reason. I had no idea what I was doing when I chose it but you have to start somewhere.

    GOLD ^_^

I'll try that later on. It's a shame though that your health bar doesn't slowly regenerate in this game. It would make life a lot less reliant on quick saving or running away.

Comically earlier on, when you fight the keeper of the sigil key, I managed to get on a ledge he couldn't path find to. So he was leaping off the spiral walkway beneath the ledge and swinging at me in mid air. Quite scary to behold really. However quite amusingly, the AI must have initiated it's 'Frustration Circuit' or something because the attacks became wilder and wilder. Just as I was down to my last sliver of health, he managed to fall off the walkway and plunged the five or six stories down the middle and onto the spikes at the bottom. I put it down to a genuinely good AI routine rather than crap pathfinding and collision detection ^_-

Oh and has anyone tried to haunted ship quest in (I think) Anvil? I realised I couldn't damage the ghosty sailors and so I legged it off the boat... with three of them in tow. Cue: a massive brawl between the spirits, local sailors, and the city watch. I just ran off and hid, then sauntered back when it had all died down and collected the lovely loot from all the dead citizens and soldiers. Ended up with a rather lovely Silver Longsword and matching armour for my troubles ;P

Damn all of you. I took the plundge and bought the game during my lunch break even though I can't really afford it right now... 1.5 hours til I find out if I like it or not. Microsoft and the developers need to get their heads out of their asses to release demos on the marketplace before the game is released.... that's why I"m stuck with GRAW and moderately enjoy it.

I dunno, I think the selection of demos is good. They've had Burnout, Blazing Angels, The Outfit, Fight Night 3, and soon BF2 pre-release on XBL. Seriously though, you won't regret it.

I managed to close the gate earlier, duh, if you pick a thief you should play like one. Sneaky sneaky, killed the sorceror dude with a critical sneak attack in one hit, and then battered the mace weilding chap in regular hand to hand stylee. I still can't get over the fact Sean Bean is the heir to the throne though! Seemingly there's a PC mod to change his character model to Boromir.

The quests after that (I won't spoil it) were brilliant. Really cinematic and with a genuine climax to them that made me feel dead pleased with myself.

Hells yes. We have a setup like this in my dorms Movie Lounge (Epson projector, huge freaking screen, 1000 watt home theater system and some bad-ass chairs)

Makes God of War on PS2 a blast to play as well. GT4 and well, everything for that matter. Oblivion is amazing at that size. God bless technology :D

LOL.. found out why I wasn't levelling up. You need to go to bed!

I thought I'd done a bit too much to still be at level 1. Seven little sleeps later and I'm at level 7.

Anyone else in the thieves guild? I've been given a special task to do by the leader that involves me stealing the unofficial tax records kept by a member of the watch. Thing is, they're kept in his private chambers at the top of the watch tower and it's impossible to get 'em without being caught - anyone done this one yet?

One annoying thing I've noticed is the quests don't reset if something goes wrong. I was tasked with busting a female gang of robbers in Anvil, and I went to the cottage they lured me to, knowing I had to kill them basically. Except after dying a few times, on my last attempt I left the cottage before they hit me and one of them followed me outside... locking the other two women inside. Thus, making it impossible for me to finish the quest. Very annoying indeed.

I've also been 'spotted' by the Assassins guild. I murdered a grave robber with deft head shotted arrow and a message flashed up saying something like 'You feel that someone hidden has observed what you did...' Nice. Another murder or two and I should get the expected visit in the night...

Oh yes. I love pinching stuff (in the game, obviously). I must be good at sneaking cos I can just creep right around people and they don't see me. For some reason I find it really amusing creeping around their rooms, then... yoink! free stuff :)

On that theives guild task I just sneaked up the tower during the day. IIRC there were guards in all of the rooms on the way up but they were asleep. There's some resonable swag in the other rooms too.

    Awesome game.

If you haven't got the skeleton key (no more lockpicks!) then you should go find it, it's a reward for a shrine quest, the shrine is on the east bank of the river almost as far south as you can go on the map - if you hunt around for a while you'll find it, sorry I can't remember its name!

p.s. most of the shrine quests have a minimum level, you need to be level 10 for this one I think

I'm getting pretty good with the lockpicks now. I rarely break one, even on the hard locks.
