I've been wanting to mod my 360 forever by using the swirl painting technique but that's almost impossible to do where I am. SO I figured I would cover it with Carbon Fiber, add some windows and lights to it. Here are the parts I have done so far. I like the look so far. I've ordered more carbon fiber and the supplies for the windows so that should all be here next week. I'll have another update tomorrow. Cheers till then.
Thanks! This is all new to me but its just like modding a PC case. I did the window work today. But first here is the batter holder for the controller. Here is the plan for the DVD ROM window. After cutting and filing for about 2hrs. Almost done. Just need to file for another 30 minutes or so. The plan for the 2 windows in the side of the case. I wanted to do 2 windows so I could still have the XBOX 360 in the middle of the door. After cutting. After about an hour of filing and sanding. Almost perfect but it doesn't need to be. I'll be using some u-channeling from MNPCTECH to go around the edge so it will look even when I'm done. Cheers till next time.
Just received more carbon fiber. The 3m tape was missing from my package and I ordered the wrong size U-channel . Update coming this weekend.
I decided to cover the DVD ROM with carbon fiber too since you can see it through the window. Came out well. Now all I need for it is the pexi. Now when I put the carbon fiber on the top half of the case, I covered all of the vent holes. Well that just isn't going to fly if unless I want to burn it up. So I got my small round file and a fine X-acto knife and started to cut out each individual hole. As you can see I got a few done but there are tons more to do. That's it for now. I'll be working on the vents for a few hours. I'll post pics when its finished. Cheers till next time.
Received Supplies The hurricane messed up my mail here We only get mail 3 days a week so missing one or 2 days is brutal. I received more supplies today. The only things left to get is the plexi and LEDs. Before any of that. I finished poking all of the holes on the topside of the case. Took FOREVER. After doing about 10-15 my hand starts to cramp up so I have to take a break. But it does look pretty good. Here is the the fan. It has Green LEDs. "Xbox 360" U-Channel from MNPCTECH. I accidently got the smaller stuff for a PC case last time. 3m Clear tape from MNPCTECH. This was missing from my last order so Bill resent it. Lets put the fan in. Lots of extra cables... Guess I'll have to sleeve them but that will be next week when I get sleeving in for a comparison I'm doing. I put the U-Channel on. And finally, I put some of the 3m tape on the back. Cheers till next time.
Got my plexi today!! I ordered 2 sheets of 1/16" and 1/8" because I didn't know what I would need. After doing some test fits it was clear I needed to use the 1/16" think pelxi. And the cutting began! I cut the large window first. Installed... you can't really see it. Now for the DVD window. Cut and filed. I had to redo this window because I got glue on the first one. Done! When I made the second it was sitting too low so the disc couldn't spin. A bit of filing and I fixed it good. Test run! Off On! So far I think it looks good. If I get the LEDs this week then I can finish this up and get the final pics done. Cheers till next time.
looks sick, subbed. i done the same to my original 360, except i had transparent case, wind tunnel, dvd drive and green fans and LED strips. Sold it to my mate for £250, profit of £45 .
Installing LEDs I finally got the LEDs in last week but I was having trouble installing them. I had to find the right combo of wires to get them to work. Here are the LEDs. 19" strip of Green SMD LEDs Installed on the bottom and top of the case. The wires were a mess so I sleeved them. Then tucked them away. And they work Next 2 updates will be the final pictures. First the day pictures then the night pictures. Cheers till then.
Final Pictures in Daylight Here are the daylight pictures. You can view all of these pictures at full res on my blog here. The next and final update will be the night pictures. Cheers till then.
Final Pictures at Night Here are the final pictures at night. You can view the full res images on my blog here. Since I don't have a yard and its kinda illegal here to take pictures outside... I'm going to go on my roof and take some in the next few days. Cheers till then.
I live in the Congo right now. Its illegal to take pictures because they think I'm "plotting an attack". And idk about you, but I'm inclined to not argue with a guy holding an AK47.
Very nice work, the silver dvd drive cover is a great contrast to the carbon fibre, my only criticism would be that the LED's are a bit too powerful.
