Is there a way i can replace my xbox (classic) 240 psu with a 12V psu? I have my old one doing nothing and thought i may install it in my car.
For the 1.1 and 1.0 (IIRC 1.2 went ATX) just look for 12V AT PSUs. Or convert summint like a pico psu to AT.
You can use a 1.2+ psu on a 1.0-1.1 xbox. I have the link around somewhere but can't find it at the moment but I am sure if you google it you can find it. For $150 though I am sure you can come up with something a lot better though. Also those picopsu's need a regulated 12V input but the pwu200 unit can be used in car and is your best bet.
for the 1.0/1.1 to 1.2+ wiring, take a look at http://xbox-scene.com/articles/psu-v10-on-v12.php though they're using a 1.0 psu in a 1.2+
Schematic to use a atx psu on a v1.0/1.1 http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?showtopic=57838&st=30#
Pop to your local maplins, the link to the regulator from the forum only needs 150ma, they'll cost pennies from maplin. Just ask for a 3.3V regulator with 150ma output.
