Hey Fleafa, I'm thinking about doing the same thing myself. I'll watch your thread with interest.
Dont know how I missed this one.... Excellent work!
i love the idea of using a XBox and what not for a media center... very nice...
just one thing though
no its centre... we're british don't you know!
im just joking around mang
lol I know man... but its just so funny how you butchered our language...
but enough of that looks a very cool project... will be interesting to see the final finish on the box!
Nice idea... i want that mouse wheel... gimme gimme gimme
screw it ill just use my schools lathe to make me 1
Btw we need sum updates
for the real professional finish get it black powder coated if you want a matt black finish -- like on all black set-top boxes etc... or get it black anodised
srry to be picky but isnt powder coat not a matt finish, it looks like crome after being baked, unless there is a new kind would be cool and i could use it /me thinks
any new work lately? hope your still doing this mod. would be killer if you could finish this up... good luck and keep it up man
its nice to see someone put an xbox to good use, i hope you can get this all finished up and working. keep up the good moding
Want Mousewheel... ...Need... ...Must Have...
Did you install the mod chip, if so how hard was it to do? Want to mod my box but don't like the idea of killing it.
ive done it several times....it is VERY easy. THe points are huge and its very hard to mess up (in my opinion).
by the way...very nice work so far.
I've modchipped 3 so far - and I don't think you can really say it's "very easy" for someone that has never soldered before. I mean like it is not challenging for me - as I solder on a daily basis - but for someone that has never used a soldering iron before - that d0 point is going to be mighty challenging.
This makes me want to get an x-box!
I realy like the chape of the case it looks clean and nice
keep it up good work!
Well, I got to install the modchip in my brother's v1.0 XBox by dint of having the only decent wattage soldering iron in the house (Irodo 120W equivalent gas job, thank you Maplin, made soldering copper chainmail so much quicker... )
It's easier than you might think (I'm no soldering god, but I know which end to pick the iron up by ) but the d0 is a PITA.
However, like you said, if you've never soldered before, then it would terrify the living wossname out of you. Especially if you've got a 1.0 XBox and have to desolder the points first.
I think soldering is something you're either good at or not - get an old circuit board and try desoldering some parts - then try putting them back in - try soldering some bits together. Basically have a play around - you'll soon find out if you're a good solderer. The XBox is an expensive playground!
i dont even have an xbox but i know there is a mod chip that you can just screw in it was mentioned on tech tv
all i have is a ps2 that doesent work (the ****ty laser) and a snes
Any chance of an update?
