So I bought myself one of those xbox 360 controller for windows wireless recievers. I've installed the software and such, and plug it in, it won't light up and my PC won't notice its existance. I've tried it with a powered USB hub too. Any suggestions?
when its plugged in, check device manager to see if there are any listed entries with issues (yellow question marks, or ! in yellow triangles). Have you tried it in another PC?
Something to note, a wireless 360 controller will not work using the quick charge cable. Also, did you sync the device and controller? Hit the sync button on the controller first, then press the button on the receiver.
Sorry I should have said, I checked device manager, nothing there. Yeah, I checked it on another PC. Well, since the receiver won't power up, this isn't an option, unfortunately.
sounds fubar'd to me. return it, get one that works. it's a pretty simple device (doesn't even need software in vista), there's not much you can troubleshoot beyond what you've done.
Just to clarify... does that mean it sworked on another machine or not? If not, I'd say its faulty and needs replacing, if it did work, then I start by re-installing your USB controller drivers.
