First of all, I would like to thank Hank of Performance-PCS.com for sponsoring this Xbox project. I highly recommend you at least take a look at his site, it's well worth it. Before last summer I started a modification project to swap my Xbox into an aluminum tool box. I didn't have much time to get it done, only about 4 days. I finished in 3 days. I worked a total of 36 hours in those 3 days. It was tough, but I finished it in time to spend the summer at my sisters house. (I had to stay there to go to my summer job) Because I didn't I was kinda in a rush, I cut some corners without thinking much about it at the time. But as I carried my Xbox around, things started to fall apart. It needed a tune up. I bring you my Project, Xbox Version 2. This is the case I started with. It's a nice case for $30. I took that case, and turned it to this in 3 days time. Here are some things that performance-pcs was nice enough to send me. Thanks a lot! What I got was 16 feet of u channel molding (go around acrylic edges), Sunbeam fan controller, medium black anodized case handle, and 1 x chrome fan grill. I was short one, lol I made an order for some Carbon Fiber vinyl over at mnpctech.com. I bought two 24x15" sheets & one 12x15" sheet. Should be plenty and than some. Started removing the stickers off of the disk drive, such a pain! I applied some carbon fiber vinyl to the drive. It really dresses it up nicely! Applied the vinyl to the fan controller That's all for now, I need to get an arbor for my hole saw, some more bolts/nuts/washers, and another sheet of acrylic.
I think you shoul have made the DVD-drive internal.. I don't know right now how it coul have been done, but making it internal would have gone along with the theme. It would be just a normal aluminum briefcase before you open it. Great work with the current design anyway, don't get me wrong.
