hi there guys. been a while since i've had a problem on my pc >.< so ill get right to the problem. i took a leap from a gtx295 to a xfx 7950 double D (due to water pump explode) and have been having problems with my Benq XL2410T not running in 120hz. i'm running 2 monitors 1 dvi (duel link) and 1 VGA (connected via dvi converter) due to me adding another dvi screen to the mix in a week. i been playing around with the connections to see how i would get it all fitted and ran into a problem with my benq screen only running in 60hz mode (120hz only runs in 1280x768) . so i swapped the plug on the back of the GFX card. my benq went into 120hz but my vga monitor did not work (i could view it on windows 7 screen resolution but was unable to load it). i'm guessing this is due to 1 being VGA and 1 being digital only. i've had duel monitors running on nvidea no problems but why is this not running on the AMD cards? so my questions are can i get both monitors working with my benq running at 120hz? will an active mini display port - dvi run 120hz? <--already got the converter if no for any of the above how could i get all 3 monitors working with my benq running at 120hz thanks for reading and replying guys and gals.
were you running it as an eyefinity type setup? what motherboard are you running. I've had something similar, in as much as needed the DVI-D DL for main monitor, and my second was VGA only. my motherboard supports the Virtu MVP, and I was able to get second monitor running on the MB VGA output, and my main monitor from GPU (but only in windows, not been able to get it running in ubuntu at all) I would say, if you have the adapter, try it. though I wonder if all screens need to be synced to same refresh rate - a quick google seems to suggest its possible. rather than attempting it in win7 display properties, I would have a look in CCC
thanks for the reply. i've got my adapter and it didn't work but i think it it just a normal adapter rather than an active one since the price difference was so big even tho it said active adapter. oh well. i'm running an i7 2700K and a gigabyte board :S forgot which one as i'm looking to upgrade. so my third display came and i ended up buying a VGA - DP adaptor and usingn that for my analog monitor while my 2 other monitors are connected to the DVI ports. its a shame the display ports are a slow uptake with monitor companys. and also AMD for only putting 1 duel link DVI in to the GFX card. i've emailed xfx about this and just waiting for a reply. will update so people know the outcome of it and if there is any fixes.
