Performs pretty well. Am I right at guessing this is taking the place of the 8800GT? Price/performance wise I mean.

...Except for power consumption - 45 Watts difference is rather a big one...

Meh, power consumption doesn't bother me. I'd just get a new PSU lol.

I just bought a 9600 GSO a few days ago for $50 (25 GBP) AR a few days ago. I can max out almost anything on my 1280x1024 monitor. It's one of the best upgrades I've ever made.

In my opinion there's no reason to spend 3x as much just to be able to play Crysis at max. I'm alright playing it on medium, it still looks pretty good.

Not too shabby, definitely an excellent choice for an entry-level / low-end card. Good to see nVidia getting into the price-wars game with ATI while still offering good performance. Hopefully 2009 will be a very competitive year in the GPU market, we haven't had an "equal" shoot-out between ATI/nVidia for awhile (it's usually either one or the other).

I've been running my 8800gs same as GSO @ 741/1836/1058 from 550/1375/800 all on stock cooling.

If you just buy a GSO like the EVGA brand it can easily overclock to these levels. No need to buy a factory overclocked one and pay more. I'm in the USA and these things cost only $50 after rebate. Best bang 4 buck in it's price range imo.

I've been playing Crysis Warhead with enthusiast settings @ 1440x900. Although not the greatest of speeds but easily playable.

wow shows how far I'm out of the game I'm still running a 7950 Gt. Although as of recent I've only played spore (at max) and diablo 2 and some CS so graphically challenging games haven't been a problem. Still I'm tempted...
