"we all know 480 will perform" Actually, of all the information to be released/leaked about Fermi, it's real world, in game performance and therefore it's bang-for buck value against it's 5850/5870 competition is the one thing we DO NOT know ...at least not yet!
Well, it would be commercial suicide for Nvidia to take its existing GTX 200 series cards off the shelves and come to the market late with an underperforming card... It's a considerable architectural change for them,so I'm expecting a few driver revisions before it starts to stretch its legs, but I'm hopeful they'll release a good card. They also know what price point they have to hit.
We'll come back to this tomorrow or Sunday It's an early 30" Dell. There's a 30" NEC next to it out of shot. That's Harry manually playing BF2:BC to record the FPS.
Hey bind, mind handing me that 30" NEC? I'm convinced to just get a HD5xxx card... Although my HD4850 still has some grunt.
W000t cant wait to see the benchies I seriosly doubt the gtx480 will be That much (for that it would have to kick the 5970 wich is a tall order for a 1rst gen single gpu card) If the internet rumours are to be belived gtx480 should retail around £350 £400. I'm guessing it will be closer to £350 Nvid know they cant screw this one up otherwise a lot off people will trade camps to ati, I'm betting on a slightly higher priced card with between 10 - 20 % fps increase over 5870!! By the by it's the 26th today????? where are all the reveiws?????? cant find anything less than a few days old on the net??????? Oppertunity bit teck???????
Aside from the over use of a question-mark, you have a point. I have been looking around all day for info and have not found any reviews. What gives? Are bit-tech going to release a review today or during the weekend and if the latter is so, why not today?
When does the NDA actually expire? Is it 23:59 tonight? I have no doubt the staff are working their fingers to the bone to get this ready, as with all anticipated releases.
The NDA get's lifted at 11.01pm GMT today or 12.01 tomorrow for central europe as far as I know, Nvidia wanted to wait until the New York stock market closed for the weekend so they could try and get a big boost in shares before it opens again on monday
Looks like Aria is getting ready, they've got a GTX400 section on the website. Clicky At the moment its got a GTX295 in it. Novatech have also got GTX470 and GTX480 sections at the ready.
When is the release supose to happen? Everyone has said March 26 (Today) so were is the stuff from Nvidia? I know most of the info in now out but the official stuff from Nvidia would be nice...
I don't think the release is today/tommorow. Isn't that just when the NDA expires/products are launched? I'm sure all will be revealed by bit techs review tommorow.
looks like GTX480 pulls ahead when Dx11 is enabled, otherwise it's level with 5870. edit: was bored, so went to search for more benchmark results on chinese websites: http://translate.google.com/transla...326/865/000000865774_all.shtml&sl=zh-CN&tl=en do keep in mind they were using 10.2 drivers, but still, the results look like GTX480 will walk all over 5870, and GTX470 is a great competitor to 5870.
Some of the benchmarks are looking fairly similar to the ones I posted. Which is good to know. I would like to know both of there test set up. Simon
Hexus had their review up for a short period of time but has now been taken down. GTX480 uses more power at idle AND load and runs hotter than a 5970, but is a good 20-30% faster than a 5870.... 5890 2GB is really gonna bring the pain for Nvidia.
Suxeh put out their GTX480 review - for a short time before pulling it down anyway, and posted what looked to be a 5% to 20% average performance advantage over the 5870... with a 63% larger die.
