I have a budget of £150 absolute max.

Do you think the above card is pretty good?

    Cheers.

OK I think I have a problem. I've looked at some you tube videos and the card has a 8pin and 6pin pci-e connectors.

Problem: My PSU only has molex connectors.

I understand that the card comes with a molex to a 6pin pci-e adapter. What am I going to do about the 8pin pci-e connector?

Is there anywhere that does cheap adapters, or even connectors and cables so i can make my own cables up?

What psu do you have, must be ancient not to have pci-e connectors.

    Hmm

Pretty old unit, can only put out 330w on its 12v line.

Which isnt a fat lot by modern standards.

    However don't the 260's just have 2 x 6 pin connectors?

Could try it with a couple of molex adaptors.

The video I saw on you tube shows 1 8pin and 1 6pin

I havent seen a molex to 8pin adapter anywhere. Although there is a 6pin to 8pin adapter. But the prices are so high!

I might just make my own up if anyone knows where to get cheap connectors from?

What rating does your 12V rail have?

As it might not have enough juice to power it, and iirc, the nvidia specs say minimum of 500W.

My Enermax Liberty doesn't even have enough juice.

    28amp.

Weird, been watching other vids and looking at some reviews, mr bungle you are right, it has 2 x 6pin connectors.

I'm hoping with 28amp, i cant JUST get away with it. If not, I will have to pick something else.

Upgrading PSU is out the question as I dont have that kind of money at the moment.

If it were me, I'd upgrade the PSU before the graphics card.

I'd rather have decent, clean, steady power in my system than take a chance running power-hungry components off an under-specced PSU.

So would I buddy, but I just don't have that kind of dough at the moment.

I've just sold my Radeon x1950 pro for £57 on ebay, and I need something so I can play. I'm currently using an old 6600GT which isn't good for anything.

you got 57 for a 1950 pro on ebay? wow, I should sell mine.
Anyway, I also wouldn't upgrade the video until you buy a new psu. I know its a lot more money, but for the sake of system stability its worth it. you should also consider that if the psu does run your entire system, it may not last long. The psu could die from the strain and then you have to buy a new one anyway. And you cant use the computer at all until you do.

I was watching a few and One sold for £47, I thought i would give mine a go. Its the first time i've sold something on ebay as well. I was expecting 45ish quid for it, i was well chuffed with the ending price.

But by the time ebay takes their profit and then the cost of postage materials and such...

I think maybe I might upgrade my MB and choose a lesser GFX card, 9800gt, at least I can OC my e6300 and finally get some decent speed out of it.

Biostar TP45 HP + 9800GT should be fairly decent. I would like to consider ati as well but I want to do some folding also...

Cheers everyone for all the replys.

    I've got a GTX 260 (216) - Zotac Amp2! I'm pretty sure that it has 2 6-pin PCI-e connectors.

According to the Bit-Tech review of a Zotac card, it has two six-pin power connections.

Thought so. And I would thouroughly reccomend the card, it plays everything I want like a dream at 1920x1080. And it overclocked better than in the Bit-Tech review.;)

    cool, sounds positive.

I'm not sure if my PSU will cope with it.... Have to have a think.

    Thanks for all the replys.

I checked online and its 2x 6 pin as I'll be buying one soon... the card should come with 2x 2 molex connections to 1 6 pin connection though... may be worth looking into a newer psu though.
