    Right...here i go.
Why are things so much more expensive in the UK compared to the US ?

Just been browsing Amazon.com And I found A XP3000 barton CPU for $358 that works out at £220-230 in the Uk it would cost £300. And also radeon 9700 pro for $299 that works out about £190-200.........But thay don't deliver to the UK. :waah:

But in 2 months I'm going to the US. What do you think the chances are, having those parcels deliverd to my hotel where i'm staying ? Has anybody else tried this ?

    Any info much apreciated.....:)

at least your not in the Euro, or in Ireland... I have both and its murder on prices.

To my knowlege the major delivery companies *might* deliver to hotels, however, some stores require the recipient to sign for it, not a receptionist.

    EDIT:
www.TigerDirect.com, they deliver internationally, if you ring them up to order (I did)

I actually didnt order anything (I was going to, but I had to use a relatives credit card... she canceled it without telling me ), but I did enquire about ordering a Toshiba 5GB PCMCIA hard-drive ($150 at the time... none left :grr:, twice the price now!). To send two to Ireland, it would have cost $27 + 7 for ever additional one.

You'll have to ring them at ~10pm GMT though (their in miami)

Does anybody know how much import tax is ?

    Really thinking about ordering a 3000XP CPU...:D

It's nice and light too, so delivery shouldn't be too bad...

    I wouldn't need to insure it would I ?

Wouldn't it be insured with the delivery company?

My good idea don't sound so good anymore....:(

I might get it sent to my hotel after all......:eeek:

get the 2500+ Barton and OC it to a 3000+ I did it a couple of weeks after getting mine and it's been running a month nearly on the HSF it came with like that @ 2.19Ghz.

Like half the price of the 3000+

Most shipping companys automaticaly insure stuff for $100, but anything extra you have to pay for. You certanly wouldn't want your $400 CPU getting damaged in-transit, and not be able to do anything about it, would you?

Insurance is cheap, though, I think it is around $0.45 per $100, last time I shipped a package (your mileage may vary).

    Where will you be staying?
