a friend of mine took her computer in to be fixed and she lost all the songs she had on itunes, everything else is still there, except for her songs. shes afriad to plug in her ipod now because she thinks it will erase everything on her iPod. is there a way to get all her songs back?

i have a 30 gig video, but no itunes experience because i put rockbox on mine the moment i got it

iTunes won't delete all her songs the moment her iPod is plugged in.

As for getting the songs back, give iPodRip a go.

also, you can now call apple itunes support once a year and ask for the download info to be reset, which will allow her to redownload all of the music

    this requires special circumstances though

Set explorer to show hidden files. Plug in the iPod, do NOT update/sync/whatever when prompted. Find the iPod's drive in Explorer, and there should be one hidden folder in there (and four visible ones) - ipod_control I think. Go in there and there should be dozens of folders with four-character names. They have all the music - just drag them directly into iTunes; provided it was all tagged properly before (names, artists, etc), it should be fairly clean. No promises on anything from the iTunes store, but I think you can reauthorize it.

But if you prefer, there's plenty of software out there designed to do this.
