I heard rumours it tommorow (Friday).

    Can anyone confirm that?

no idea, but i don't see what it will do... most service packs are unnoticeable to the naked eye. they all claim to "fix security bug in monkey hole" etc.. a load of crap i think

I won't be installing it, thats for sure. Simply because I don't trust MS to tell me *exactly* what I am installing.

u dont apply MS service packs but u run MS software....?

I dont understand... ur logic appears flawed ;) ..

    ms service packs are essential!!

do u think xp is a complete finished product ? think again! its a work in progress :)

Should be out in a couple days (hopefully) Depends if they find something serious that needs fixing.

In other (slight related) news, DirectX 9 just got postponed :(

I don't trust MS, as much as the next guy, but I will still be upgrading to XP1 as soon as it comes out - even though I have no major problems with my current setup as-is. I've been running a couple of the betas already.

Anything they may have included and not mentioned won't worry me too much, I have a corporate edition but my key won't be blocked :p Automatic updates etc will all be disabled. All MS middleware will stay as it is - I like Outlook Express (despite being a virus writers' best friend) and Internet Explorer (bite me mozilla).

Come on MS, give us SP1 NOW!!

hmm I might put XP on my machine if this service pack is any good... :blah:

Is it me or does XP feel laggy and not as efficient as Win2k?

Ouch :( I said Mozilla, not you Lazy.

Cruelinios, YMMV (your mileage may vary). I personally find XP to run incredibly fast on my computer. If you don't have up to the minute hardware 2000 will be better for you, but if you have an all-singing all-dancing PC then XP will probably be best.

My PC neither sings nor dances, yet XP is much much faster and far more stable than 2k for me. Upgrading tomorrow though :D

Damn you all and your broadband connections... ;)

Round here it's a miracle if we go six months without a power cut...
