Windows XP SP2 Firewall Vs Norton AV 2005 Worm blocker

Hiya chaplets...

I face a small dilema. I used to be a happy agnitum firewall user but then went back to 56k and didn't use it. Now i have sexy broadband and am undecided whether to use the built in sp2 firewall, or (as advised by Norton Systemworks 2005) use the Antivirus 2005 worm blocker. Now...what do you learned chaps think? Norton do an internet security package so obviously they believe that the AV2005 is not a complete security set so what are the alternatives (read FREE - I've paid for Norton 2005 - that's enough for me).

SP2's firewall only blocks incoming, not outgoing.

A friend of mine was very happy using SP2's firewall because he said that he could get rid of 3rd party firewalls.
While he was doing that, I disabled SP2's firewall and used Kerio.

Some days ago he told me he started using Kerio and stopped using SP2's firewall because it just blocks incoming data.

 

my version of security = dont go to dodgy sites, dont d/l off kazaa/other p2p crap, dont open junkmail, dont open anything that's been forwarded more than once, hardware firewall, and trendmicro scan if it gets flakey.

My box hasnt had a virus or a worm in 2 years, and only 1 other box in my house (out of 5) has. and that was full on kazaa stupidity.

keep your windows updated and dont do stupid things, and you dont get wormy.

Been using Firefox for yonks....since netscape died...what was it called first? Firebird? Anyway....I try to convert EVERYONE I know to using it....purposly delte IE icons when they aren't looking and rename Firfox icon to INTERNET..... he he he....


Back to Kerio for me then! Gotta love those dodgy sites!
