Okay, i have a Shuttle SNG42 nvidia special ed with an XP2700, 1GB PC3200 Kingston, and a 9700pro, running XP Pro.

The problems occur with MediaPortal, an excellent MCE replacement. Ive tried this on clean installs with spare drives, but its the same nomatter what i do.

Now...ive either got some weird problem that i cant trace, or a 2700 just isnt up to the job.

    So...this is my plan...

I have 2 machines i could use for watching freeview. This shuttle, or my spare development box. The dev box is a dualie PIII 933@1.13Ghz, 1GB PC133 ECC SDRAM (will go up to 2gb in a few months), either a PCI FX5200 or FX6200 graphics card, and either U160 or SATA150 drives.

Which one of these machines would cope better with the following windows tasks (i say windows tasks, as the other use will be Ubuntu, which will not have any corolation to the PCI Freeview card):

    - Media Portal
    - Browsing the net
    - Mass downloading
    - Some gaming (Q3, RTCW:ET, BF1942)

I know the XP2700 would do better at gaming, but considering the other tasks are a little more widespread, they are the priority.

And one other thing...before you ask, the card in question (Flyvideo DUO PCI Freeview) has been tested on an A64-3000 and an Opty170 and had no stutters etc.

Strangly, the lifeview software bundled works fine on anything, but doesnt have anything like the functions i want with.

Hope ive given y'all enough to explain the problem!

    Cheers
