    Any SSD will be a huge improvement over your current setup even being limited by SATAII speeds

    Yeah for sure this.

    OP to answer your question - yes they made SATA 2 SSDs. However, many of them were incapable of even maxing out a SATA 2 socket. If you go SATA 3 you may even find they are faster than most of the older SATA 2 drives.

    As I said I have one in a really old board (it was released in 2008 !) and it makes boot time fly, even on SATA 2.

    SATA is SATA. All 3 iterations should work without issue on your board. The Samsung one you linked is a great drive and should work without a problem.

    I still have this machine. Problem I have now is dell not made win 10 drivers so my raid 0 configuration cannot be seen for some weird reason. I use to be able to see it in win 10 but not anymore. Any ideas?


    Machine runs fine in win 7.
