    Evening all.

I have a rather odd request.

My sister is currently in Canada in the Yaletown/Surrey area and, like most people, she’s technologically challenged useless when it comes to computers.

She’s wanting to buy a laptop and while I’m able to make recommendations on what to get, when it comes to the WHERE I’m at a lost.

According to Google Earth, there is a Future Shop on 796 Granville Street that isn’t too far from where she’s staying.

They have a website (http://www.futureshop.ca) so that makes it easier for me to look for a laptop for her, but I have no idea about their service/support etc.

I was wondering if anyone has done business with them before (not necessarily THAT specific shop, just the company). Are they any good?

Or if there are better/cheaper computer shops in the Yaletown/Surrey area that you know of please let me know.

Bear in mind that she radiates a kind of “things-just-happen-to-break-when-I’m-near” field and ranks a solid 8 on the clumsy scale, so obviously a shop with decent customer service would be a great (for my sister, not necessarily the customer support people)

Any help will be greatly appreciated!

    Probably too late but....

Futureshop has/had/will have some unbeatable sales on laptops, ie: last month I got an HP P320 for $399 http://www.futureshop.ca/en-CA/prod...spx?path=87ae90558a40f44ae5e7a41d10ca0203en02

Bestbuy.ca usually mirrors their sales within a week or so.

I wouldn't count on good service support anywhere these days, FS is no better or worse than most. For a "crippled" user, I would recommend ensuring they know how do do a factory restore, ensure they have or create the restore dvd's and teach them to do regular rotational backups of their data on a couple usb flash drives.

BTW Yaletown is in downtown Vancouver, Surrey is a suburb 45 mins away, I am right between the two lol.
