Okay, this is getting ridiculous. We're in the midst of yet another snow storm - this time a noreaster. We got 8" dumped on us overnight and they're calling for another 6-9" by late tonight. I hate snow... Everyone sing with me! It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas E-very-where you go...
Schools are still in session here... Guess we're more of a hearty bunch Okay, I give up... Been trying to figure out the infoooormer thing for sometime now, but can't. Someone clue this clueless American to an obvious UK thing
if theres a lot of snow on the roads, they cancel school. my school gets canceled a lot less than others in my area.
a licky boom boom down (credit: Penski) That's some proper snow you got there Dad. Looks much nicer than the grey sludge we get where I live.
It all depends on the amount of snow and all that. In the North East (and I assume other places too), schools are given a certain number of "snow days" in which if the superintendant of schools thinks it's too dangerous for the buses to get out, they close school for the day. Kids love it, it's a pain for the parents. Remember, we get a hell of a lot of snow here (and the Boston area) - a storm total of 24" or more isn't uncommon where I live. Sometimes it gets bad enough where the county will declare a state of emergency and close all roads to all traffic but emergency vehicles. Gotcha
we have had lots of snow here.. Althought it doesnt bother me, it melts around my house hehehhehe - S
Still haven't seen any snow since christmas day from the previous thread: the video's quite apt considering dad's av (<3 cannibal:the musical)
It snowed on Thursday/Friday and then again on Monday. They were calling for 8-10 inches, but in reality we only got about 3-4 inches. Because we're in northern Virginia, we're not very prepared for snow, so I had off school Thursday, Friday, Monday, and a two-hour delay today.
It snows plenty here, however, we haven't had a snow day yet in the last 3 years. When we got the 3 feet of snow there was a delay, though. I live in Northeastern USA (the blue state cluster ).
Ah yes, we just used up all our snow days (I think we get 3 during the year). If we miss any more days, they'll either remove one of the "teacher workdays" later in the year or tack on days to the end of the year.
i moved on the weekend...it was 17 degrees on saturday. 9 right now, with light rain, and the highs for the week never drop below 10. that said, i'm scared at what it's going to be like in june, but am glad it's not snowing.
we have had snow in edinburgh the past 2 mornings now, though its only been light. That means its thick enough to be snow looking, and make my biking to uni difficult, but thin enough so i can't terrorise people with it. grrr.
