Yay! thanks to all the people that replied to my "Help me hit 1.5" post and i have found an easy as hell solution to this! i looked at my mobo manual and found it had a utility to up the clock frequency, tis called steap easy 1.0 and it was especially for my Mobo and it was on the cd. i installed it a few mins ago and it is simple as pie, i am now at 1.44Ghz because i dont want to stress the heatsink already on there, i am getting a nice beefy one soon tho so i should be good then
?? So it turns out there is a way to up the FSB frequency?? {bah that is too easy}/ I MEAN: good for you!! lol Heh, I just remembered something else too though: there is a program called SoftFSB which allows you to alter FSB from within Windows. I got it once and tried it but it gave me the same results as settings in the BIOS, so it was a wash. Just do a quick google search for it, make sure your mobo is supported (there is something about the timing chip on different mobo's, each kind has to be supported) and try it out! Oh, and be HARDCORE man!! Do the multiplier mod to your XP, and up the voltage on that mofo!!
well the program is a bit of a duff, it resets the fsb when u reboot ur pc when i get me new heatsink i will be unlocking it and upping the multiplier yeah jsut got an 80mm evercool fan today and case temps have dropped about 10 degrees c! from 48 idle to 38 idle and from 52-53 load to 40 load
SoftFSB is no longer supported by its curator, H. Oda, I dont know his reasons for this, but he has chosen to stop updating this piece of software. I don't know whether you will find it on the net anywhere still, as it says on his main site that all download and support has ended... If you find it, can you post here however, cos I am always interested in little tweak programs such as this one Cheers, BiGGiE
