Well here we go again with the most modded case around Dremeled out the ugly Bucktoothed grill and cut case for front window.
LoL on the airtools...yea you can see they have some wear & tear! The Motherboard on these cases have a lot of waisted space so I... OOps I Oh forgot to mention the Top Window cut LoL
Thank's Midwinter been spreading bondo way too many years (retired bodyman) I used the UV transparent molding for the Top window and cut a couple 80mm fan holes. Moved the HDD to the mobo window and sleeved and routed PSU wires I molded a piece of plexy to mount the HDD and cut holes for HDD cooler.
Well finished the wiring now It's time to see if she'll boot... Haaa relief... I still need to cut the main window in and then tear the mock up all the way back down for spraying. I have a gallon of Chrysler Viper Blue Urathane Base/Clear on the shelf... What do you guys think? It has a peralesent look to the color but looks to much like the original dragon color. I'm leaning toward a purple pearl "1996 GM Hawaiian Orchid" (color of old hot rod) More later...
Oh man, that blue is hot, I'd definetly go with that. And the blue follows with the theme very nicely, and IMHO compliment the case very nicely. But to each his own. On a side note, I too have wondered why the Motherboard panel is so needlessly large. I like the look you gave it by removing that part, and the placement of the window. Great Job! -Brad
Wow really cool and clean looking case mod keep up the good work. If you want my opnion i would use that can of paint. It really will make the case stand out more!
Does the paint have glitter in it?? If so you can't run the paint through a filter or screen, so how do you keep from cloging the tip of the gun?? A special nossle or just a higher PSI?
hehe good place to put that car to take a pic of it... right in front of an adult toy factory Looks really nice, those are some great ideas! I wish I had thought up some of that stuff for my old chieftec. What's with that molex right smack dab in the middle of the mobo? And are those neatly organized molexes behind the mobo tray all neat for a purpose or just to look nice?
Yes It's a metallic just like most Automotive paints are. The small flakes are delivered along with the atomized fluid with no problem. When you step up to a huge flake as in the Metalflake jobs... you have to use a special spray cup that has an agitator that spins slowly on the bottom of the cup to keep the flakes mixed uniformly in the clear paint. The agitator runs off the air system and the guns fluid nozzle and orifice tip size doesn't need to be changed. BTW It's best to strain all automotive paints to catch metallic lumps and debris that somehow find there way in the can.
I wondered if anyone would catch the "Toy Factory" Actually it's a custom hotrod shop... those adult toys LoL Molex in the middle? Theres the sleeved north bridge fan and the HDD IDE to the right of it? The molexs on the backside are for the DVD-RW & DVD so yes they will be functional when finished. I used mobo standoffs to hold them slightly back from the tray... The more wires you hide the easier the management plus with them tied down... it makes it easier to remove and replace the door without having to stuff the loose wires in every time.
Yeah, stuffing those wires in is a real pain if they're not organized. The molex I meant was like just over the AGP slot where the clip would be, about 1/4" or so above it, near the end of the leftmost ram socket. Looks like a male molex on the board... it's not for extra power to the board (kinda like the P4 plug) is it? You should try and do something about that little green LED on the bottom of the board too. Maybe just cover it up with black electrical tape or something, although replacing it would be best albeit REALLY tricky.
Wow, this isn't just another chieftech, its amazing. I dunno why but i love the way the HDD looks there, brilliant. And the wiring works looks really good. nice work
Damm you have good eyes! It's a 4 pin male molex to use for auxiliary power to an AGP Video card. A shorter cable helps keeping from stretching a wire across the front of the board making it more aesthetically pleasing. (or for anything else that may need power)
Excellent mod, I think it stands out from the other chieftec mods I've seen. Its not over the top, more classy looking. Question: what technique did you use to bend the front window to match the curvature of the door?
