that sucks. hopefully it was just the carpets and none of the structural stuff.

our garage flooded twice this week. luckily we had everything lifted up, so nothing was damaged.

That's too bad man. I've only had my basement flood once, but luckily it was still only concrete.

This is why it pays to invest in a water pump in some places, you can pump the water out faster than it comes in.

I had no idea that the rain yesterday was going to do last months floods all over again... is yours an insurance job?

Round 'ere (Ascot) the rain was very heavy and prolonged from about 6AM until 11AM and by 12 it had passed and brightened up, and most surfaces were dry again by 5PM ish...

http://www.environment-agency.gov.uk/maps/info/floodmaps/ - might be useful for people wondering if they could possibly get done by heavy rain...

As someone pointed out recently, a Dutchman living in Birmingham is comedy right there. But I feel validated in my opinion that living 170 metres above sea level is better than living 7 metres below it...

Yeah, the route I take home from the offices is pretty flooded. I saw a car chase last night too - some teens hit a car and tried to get away but the other dude wasn't having it and rammed them off the road on the road past Bindi's house all the way up to Martins heron until they T-boned on the bridge and blocked the road. Was about 9PM, when I was leaving work and I saw the whole thing. Intense stuff.
