Starbuck3733T, I *love* the first and last shots of yours. Any way of getting that fountain in a desktop res for my macbook? (1280xwhatever).

Something with the huge anticipation and curiosity to look around the corner... It's interesting how dinamic the photo is, with the main subject in dead center.

    1. Taken at the 200 end of a 55-200 DX lens. No VR. My favourite shot of 2007.

    2. This was a 'house' used for customs and piratey-type smuggling. Yarr!

I'll see if I can sift through any more. I tend to put my favourites from a set onto flickr.

Wow! All very well shot. So many so beautiful...

Da Dego #4 is beautiful. Love the symmetry.
Shadowed_fury #2 LOL I love that picture. It makes me smile on the inside :)
Yodasarmpit that first one is beautiful. Would love to have it as a poster.
Vers that Zebra is so cool. Though it's been done before you do it more than justice. Great exposure. Beautiful image. And a cute kid!
oddball_walking those B&W are great! Seeing them again is good.
alastor your eye for space in the photo is exemplary. All beautiful and well balanced.
AJB2K3 that 2nd one looks like a very beautiful place. Good colors.
Jamie I still love that 2nd Chicago shot.
supermonkey that #4 is still one of my all time favorites. Can't explain why :)
starbuck3733T can't say that it shows it wasn't a dslr. Those are beautiful. That fountain shot is excellent. Only to be excelled by the fifth one :)
Biosniper that 2nd one is great. A complicated scene to describe in my opinion. Very good picture of life.
    samkiller42 I wish I had mountain view too :)
kenco_uk thats one nice handheld shot.

Here's five I selected but I regret I didn't say top 20. Would have been easier to select :) perhaps... :)

    OleJ, thanks :)

I'm drawn to No. 5 of your shots. The way it looks like they should be pylons.. very clever.

Thanks OleJ, I will admit, I pretty much like 100% of the stuff you take, you've got such a good eye imo...

Agreed. OleJ, I LOVE that shot #5. Gorgeous. Kenco, I can't believe you got that shot with no VR at 200mm. Absolutely beautiful.

Some great looking shots in here from everyone. Few that caught my eye:

Yoda: Your first three I just adore. Cracking shots and remember them clearly from first postings.
Vers: That zebra shot is outstanding.
Jamie: Always loved your second one (of Chicago), colours are just fantastic.
supermonkey: Your second (space centre) shot is excellent and a worthy POTM winner.
BioSniper: I don't remember seeing it before, but I'm loving your fourth (landscape) shot. Excellent colours and use of wide format.

So I've had a ganders through my Flickr and came up with this five. It was an interesting exercise looking back at what I'd taken and realising that whilst I wasn't as productive quantity wise (going four months without a shot!) I feel my quality was pleasing. I'm not sure these are actually my top five but what I've tried to do is pick a shot from each different style I tried over the twelve months, with these being the best of each:

#1 Still Life: Forking Reflections - POTM winner from back in February (what was this month's theme again?)

#2 Wildlife: ***** Cat - Taken whilst on safari in South Africa in March
    [IMG]

#3 Landscape: Knysna Sunrise - again taken in South Africa
    [IMG]

#4 Photojournalism: Blue Beauty - Taken at Notting Hill Carnival in August
    [IMG]

#5 Cityscape: Night Scrapers - Taken in NYC in October
    [IMG]

I had to drop portraiture which would have been my blind photo from August's POTM.

PS - Good idea for a thread. :thumb:

Whoa! Thanks man! That really moved me :)

I have to say that this forum has played a great part of my development in photography. There are so many beautiful and inspiring shots here and there's always an answer to your question concerning techniques and equipment which makes it a joy to partake.
