I'm a builder, been at it for 25+ years, I used to love it, some times I still do. But with arthritis in one leg it's not some thing I plan on doing for to much longer. Now I want to build/mod, repair PC's. I'm trying to get a business off the ground, I've made my own web site (see sig). So who knows, maybe it'll take off and the building trade will be history.
Who'd you work with? My brother and his fiance are both on standby vessels in the North Sea, although he just transferred from oil transport for Knutsen O.A.S.
Full time student, working on my exam to become and IT technician / Software specialist (including CCNA & MCTS) and as a part of that eduction we get to work 1/3 of the time! So I am currently working for an company as an consultant whom have "sold" me to another company for the next couple of months as an IT Engineer/Tech.
QA Engineer with a stock exchange. I help make things that already go too fast, go faster. (Stock market data) Its a job. I'd rather something with more hardware interaction. This is just meaningless data.
Reservoir Engineer for an oil and gas company. Very enjoyable work but quite intense at times and involves a lot of sitting and staring into the ether whilst stroking my non-existant beard.
Full time medical student, rides host at a theme park during the Summer. Medical degree is a bit rubbish at the moment, being purely academic for now with exams coming up, but looking forward to getting into hospital placements. Working at the theme park is quite fun, and we have a good team that's pretty fun. Still have to deal with the low IQ of the general public, but hey, it gives me somethingto laugh about. I tend to consider it a good day if I don't have any arguments.
Student currently. In my final year (thankfully) and have recently finished lectures. Have 5 written exams over the next month - before doing a bit more programming relating to a coursework (my final year projec) - then I'm finished with Uni (wahey!). I've got a (software development) job sorted for August. So I guess my 'job' at the moment is 'in transition'
Full time student(28 credits and 36 hours a week) and working part/full time(anywhere from 30 to 40 hours a week) at a pizza place. I absolutely hate it.
It doesn't help with the current jobs market and where I am based in the country. My daily commute is 84 miles round trip, which is gradually killing my 17 year Volvo, the next expense to replace that. I was in a hell of a grey area being in Norfolk with my qualifications, the local Job centre never bugged me about local work as 'not to sound so up myself' I have a degree and I am young, I want/needed a Professional job, not rounding up turkeys at Christmas for minimal wage. I had 3 interviews in a space of 4 months, 2 not so lucky and the 3rd said yes, then the company collapsed and went under. before I could start. In November I landed my current job, WIN! What didn't help my interview process is that I am a pessimistic and cynical, and would ultimately pick apart the company that is interviewing me, asking about the revenue and general atmosphere of their market. Basically I would interview them rather than them interviewing me. It pays off really because it cuts the crap and BS generated by the middlemen of commerce as they generally have no clue about anything SERIOUSLY!. At the age of 24 I am head of a Design Department again, last job whilst on industrial placement I was head of design in a medical firm. Technically unheard of, but the firm took the gamble with me and it paid off for them.
Physics Teacher: leaves me absolutely exhausted but love it! Every day is different and the students are great fun . Makes a massive difference what your department is like though, current department is excellent so all good. Only bad side: Marking, mind bogglingly boring but seeing a student's face when they have done well makes it worth it.
Test product engineer for a company that packages and tests silicon chips , i work in the test department using high end million dollar mixed signal testers , interesting job , pays quite well and as a bonus its only 6 miles form where live so i can cycle to work when i get the urge...
Full Time A-level student/ 'customer sales assistant' in a pharmacy, though I prefer to just say I sell drugs...;D Grade permitting, doing a Physics degree at Leicester in October!
Sys admin for a renewable energy company. It is a great job with lots of freedom to do what I want. Plus the bonus of a barbecue every Friday laid on by the company
Cheese fondue from scratch can be a real pain in the ass. You need to heat the wine & kirsch mix before adding cornflour, and sometimes the mix is just easier. Currently I work as a clinical photographer (with a photograph degree and clinical photography postgrad), but will be starting medicine in September on a four-year accelerated course for graduates. Quite looking forward to it!
stay at home dad love it, but its only temp till the twins are in nursery then ill get a part time job, i did start to deliver pizza's for a local takeaway but it just wasnt worth it in the end, now i buy and re-sell on ebay which is great if a little time consuming.
