I'd like to know what your life-changing moment was, everyone has one. I think for me, it was the day my parents split up. I think it changed me in a way that I now look at women and the whole relationship thing differently. As in, how evil they can be once lawyers get involved.
I think it must be moving to europe after living in africa for 13 years....also discovering modding sites and warez...this brought a whole new "geekness" over me...and i still love doing all this..thanks bit-tech
The day I first got Napster (in its first incarnation), made me appreciate music a whole lot more. They never should shut it down, it would have saved them losses in the end because it was (mostly) limited to mp3s. Other than that I havnt had my day yet.
Getting 1mb cable And finally asking out my current g/f after about 2 years (And getting my laptop today, YAAY)
Building my first computer ~ 4 years ago... Gave me the computing bug, and has lead to a small obession with all things fast and computery!
rolling off the motorway at 90mph, in the back of a van filled with lawnmowers, surviving and thinking damn that was lucky.
When I moved to USA from Lithuania. My parent divorce or almost anything else seems so small when considering the change I'm going through in Free Country
This year. My gf dropped me. One of my best friends commited suicide, he was almost 3 years younger than me, this really shocked me.
Hmm.... joining the royal green jackets cadets today i guess... only army cadets in the england still under royal green jackets control... I FEEL SPESHUL!
I'd say probably the first time I played a game online. If I had to guess, I'd say this was about 10 years ago. Egghead was hosting some sort of computer expo, and DWANGO was there showing off their service (brownie points to those of you who remember either, triple for both). They were letting people come up to their booth and play Doom 2 through their service, so I stepped up and proceeded to get my ass kicked because the guy I was playing against had Always Run on. Sure, it was demoralizing defeat, but I knew that it'd be something I was going to do. Today, I'm in 3 different clans, been in 4 others, won a couple of championships/tourneys, and haven't earned a single dime because I don't play the games that the pro leagues offer! Still worth it though.
The day that I got a phone call on my cell phone from a paramedic telling me that I need to get over to the hospital (not the one I work at now) "as soon as I can" because my x-wife and kids were involved in a car accident and him not telling me their condition other than I need to hurry. The worst thing is that he didn't tell me where the accident was and I passed by it on my way. The car was 100% totaled and I saw that they pried it open in multiple places with the "jaws of life".. Scarriest day/moment in my life.
The time period during my parents' divorce, tbh. Because during that time, I got hit by a car, started getting into stuff, and stopped caring about success in the things I did. Things are starting to get better now that the divorce is done and over, but I got to see the real REAL personality of my Dad, underneath the fake shell, underneath the fake real abusive layer. The layer of real abuse :/ Plus, around that time I also got my license, which changed my life much for the better, especially in terms of my social life
The flight home after spending 2 weeks in germany for world youth day. Something just dawned on me about how amazing the bonds we made as a group was, and how amazing it was that so many people could gather for something so big. Realising how lucky a person I am compaired to so many in the world and how I'm going to have to work really hard to make myself the kind of person I wish I was.
