Could you briefly explain why setting them on the desk is a bad idea?

Yes I know they should be raised up on stands. I've just never got round to buying any. In reality they actually rarely get used for anything other than gaming (music use is very occasional). Which is probably much more of a sin.

Causes the speaker to couple with the desk, the desk becomes a passive radiator. It also creates some really bad reflections that seriously warp the sound.

It also helps to elevate them off the desk to get the tweeters to ear height, sort of like Yakiro has done on the previous page. Frequency response degrades in the upper region when you start to off axis.

HS50's not primarily used for music?! Blasphemy!

One of my desk at work, pretty decent system actually, 2600k 8gb and 560ti. There's a few such systems in the office so been trying to persuade the boss to let us have a server for weekly fps tournaments. No luck as yet! :p

Messin' with the kit lens + a wide angle lens from a video camera held in front = free fisheye!
God awful distortion and next to nothing is in focus but fun!

Haha, I think it was free, got some others elsewhere in the room, think I got them with a newspaper or something similar.

That's a wonderfully clean setup, Votick, but I can't understand how some people get along with Glass desks without being paranoid it'll smash and deposit PC and expensive hardware onto the floor.. (Might just be me and my rage, however.)

@TuNdRa: Finger prints are a nightmare but you don't notice them that much until you look closely.
It say's it's tempered glass so I presume it's stronger than normal glass. (I've already stood on it while feeding cables down the back to keep it all tidy looking, Seemed to take my weight OK.)

@Tangster: It was about £120? The desk and chair set me back £235 I believe from Costco.
And yes it's lovely and comfy. Before I was sitting on a fold away chair and one of those tiny desks with the keyboard tray etc. So my hands where at different high levels for mouse and keyboard. xD

Admittedly it's a bit big for my room. But there's no point spending money on a smaller desk when I will come to moving out and wished I'd got a bigger desk. :)
