Careful - I've done that before and over the years the blue leeched into/through the paper. It wasn't a big deal in my case as what was framed wasn't unique or notable, but this could be bad news in other circumstances.

Wot @Mister_Tad said - even a little bit of blu-tac over the long term is going to leach greasy stains through the paper. These aren't exactly expensive prints, but I'd still rather not ruin them.

Yeah that would work. But TBH they're just cheap naff Ikea frames anyway; they're a total PITA to hang and the cardboard backing isn't held on with very much force. I do plan to replace them, as I've got an A1 print I need to hang downstairs - that one isn't a cheap print, so I want to find something a bit better than cheap Ikea stuff!

perhaps a tiny dab of pritt* stick then ? It's pretty low tack but I suppose could still effect the paper some way.

pritt stick has no connection to pritti patel of the spite girls, so it's not swearing

Nah, mount (matte) is the only way to go. Anything else and you'll live to regret it.

Empty room. Spend three days deep cleaning said room and rearranging all the furniture. One nightmare later.

    sooo worth it.

Moved things around in the room and also switched around devices to better align with my wife's workflow (Novel planning, drafting and writing).

    My Desk -

PC now in ITX format -

Home Lab / Server peaking around the corner

    Bonus - Server innards:

    (Squeezed in there is 7 x NVME drives, 4 x SATA SSD's and a single HD - not bad for a H510.... :p)

Moved to the opposite wall of the office, away from the window and the thunderbug monitor threat........ aaaaannnnnd finally got to wall mounting the 43 inch screen, just to get it another 10 inches away from my eyeballs. Added bonus of lots more desk space!

Poor quality photo 'cos I was using the terrible wide-angle lens on the phone, but here's the current state of play on my primary desk:

    desk.jpg

Could do with switching keyboards to one of my shiny new ergo ones, but I'm waiting until I'm a bit less busy 'cos I know it'll slow me down for a bit. This works for now, though - still a big fan of the Q8 Alice, even if Keychron cheaped out on the plastic and the keycaps are showing shine already...

Yarp! Super Micro H11-SSL-i with Eypc 7551P and 128GB of DDR4 RAM. Might move over to an Epyc 7542 (Zen 2 "Rome") for the better IPC and higher clocks if required and budget allows. May need more RAM as well but 128GB will do for now.

1 x NVME on the board (for Hyper Visor OS install / because I could..:p:)

4 x NVME on Asus M2 Adaptor card - Essentially going to be running in RAID 5 equivalent - "Fast" Storage Pool for Server
2 x NVME (2230) on Seperate M2 Adaptor card - Running in RAID 1 (equivalent) for VM Boot Drive.

The latter two I had spare from a Steam Deck Windows build and the original drive from my Ally.

Normal SSD's are split with 2 x 512GB for the "Server" VM Boot drive (RAID 1 or equivalent) and 2 x 1GB for the "Slow" Storage pool. HD is in there for Backups only.

In theory you can run the Asus card on a "normal" desktop board as long you have onboard graphics / can Bifurcate the primary PCI-e slot. However, in most cases, if you also want to run a GPU you are limited to x4/x4 on the Card thus two of the drives won't shows up. At least that is the case per the Asus documentation.

I will say one thing, as someone who spends far to long cable managing the backside of a PC knowing it will annoy the crap out of me if I don't, dealing with the amount of Cables with this build was making my eye twitch!

Getting some twinges in my thumb, so I've finally got around to setting up the Glove80 ergo keyboard. Also using the vertical mouse, albeit temporarily - I really do prefer a trackball.

It's not too much of a learning curve, as it's similar to my existing Maltron. It's definitely going to slow me down for a bit, though!

Is it better built than the Maltron?

Oh, night and day - it's a much more solid design, takes up less room, and is actually adjustable! No good if you've got something against low-profile keycaps, tho'.

I remembered you saying how poor quality the very costly Maltron was but, I don't need to change keyboards, I don't do enough typing.

Can I pick your brains on trackballls though? I currently use a vertical mouse (Evoluent), because of problems with my right hand and wrist, caused by old cycling injuries. Do you know of a trackball that is held with the hand in the same orientation and, has a finger operated ball? Thumb operated is not good for me. Not sure I want to change but, would be good to try one out.

I know of them, but I've not tried one m'self. I *have* tried:

What used to be called the Logitech Trackman Marble, and is now the "Logitech ERGO M575 Wireless Trackball Mouse." I'd been using a Trackman Marble since it came with a nine-pin serial connection, in fact, which is probably why my right thumb still gives me twinges every now and again. Which is why I moved to:

The Kensington Orbit Scroll Ring, which uses your finger instead. It's... fine, I guess. Never loved it, though. So I then got one of these:

The Kensington SlimBlade. Much better, and you spin the ball to scroll which is neat. Had one go dodgy on me, but Kensington replaced it (eventually - they sent an Orbit Scroll Ring by mistake first time around and it took an *age* To sort, but to apologise they let me spend some free credit in their web store. Picked up the monitor arm I'm still using now!)

Neither of those are what you're after, tho'. There's the Kensington Pro Fit Ergo Vertical Wired Trackball, a name only a mother could love, but that's thumb-operated like the Logitech. The Kensington Orbit Fusion Wireless Trackball is finger-operated, but not vertical - just a little tilt. Even the presentation-oriented stuff is thumb operated.

In fact, I can't find a single vertical trackball with finger operation. They're all thumb. Huh. Sorry, but looks like you've spotted a definite gap in the market!

The Logitech trackball, resembles one I used years ago, before the arthritis started to cause problems. I don't think thumb operation of the ball will work for me now. Will have to wait and see what comes along in the future. Thanks for your thoughts G.
