Thinking of making a game sometimes spurs me to moments of 'clarity' (or madness, depending on how you look at it). In on such moment, I wrote the following. what are your opinions of it? good, bad, or otherwise- just some constructive crisism please. EDIT: this is inteaded to be a sort of game cut-screen. Dreamlike, if anyone plays Badlurs Gate, its kinda like the dream sequences in that, only darker and in 3D.
Oh - I forgot! It was suggested that this could be a song. Now, personally I find that hard to believe. VERY hard to believe. But what are your thoughts?
Yes, it could be in any D&D rpg (generaly they are more geared towards the storyline). I just finished Neverwinter Nights. Sounds like some of the riddles I had to think about. Start making a game boyo! Instead of at the Spine of the World, or the Sword Coast, or Neverwinter, it could be on one of the other continents yet unknown.
If I do follow through on this, I'll probably practice the storyline by making a 'module' for Neverwinters Nights - its just easier that way, the environment is practically made FOR you. Plus, I found the included game with Neverwinter to be very poor, especially in comparision to BG.
Dude - that's pretty good; i can picture it being the character intro to something like Final Fantasy (no offence meant - it's a very complex and deep storyline...). I'm not sure how good a song it would make - but i can't picture what kind of music you'd put it to. Definately make a game if you've got more stuff of such calibre up your sleeve!
well, seeing as Neverwinter Nights absolutely refuses to install (damaged disk 3 and cant find the CD repairer). Until I get it installed (if ever) heres my current 'work': So, would this be 'uselful' in a game-type environment? by that, I mean is it too confusing or cryptic? is it understandable?
Oh, yeah... when reading above try to imagine it as in-game text. Again like in Baldurs Gate - if you ever played it. the 'poem' thing - imagine that is a pickup-item, a book on the floor somewhere - a dungeon maybe.
This is why i play the warrior in the games so that i don't have to think. Just kick everythings arse.. and hints DM?
Your missing so much, the game can be so much better when you have to think your way through it... of course, I'm saying this while playing a fighter in BG:TOB that just hacks n' slashes anything that moves You want hints? hmm... lemme see: [1] you are thrown into a jail by a blind gaoler, all around you are the skeletal remains of the previous 'inmates'. All but one - one body has not decayed for long. Most the flesh is still on the body. You can take something from the body if you wish. [2] theres no hint for this. the answer is 'the planes'. those familiar with D&D games should know this - I do [3] the light is knowlege. there are bookshelves all around you. you cough and sneeze as you read the puzzle. [4] not a puzzle, just an odd 'poem' thing I wrote when I was bored.
no-one even going to try to solve the puzzles? how am I supposed to know if they're "solvable" or not?
Hmm I would either try to pretend im dead then kill him when he checks the corpse. thats not me. Im not sure really. I just don't get it. Im they type of person that usually doesn't get tossed in the slammer. Never really have to do anything cept bust my friends out.. Im assuming since he's blind u can use the body with flesh on it to ur advantage. Maybe something with the clothes. Im not sure. its too late...
I think you have to show the Gaoler some of the "light" of knowledge so he can regain his sight. Then he might free you. That's just a completely random guess though.
I guess its harder when not in a game environment, here are the answers: [Dungeon quest] you are to take the eye of the rotting corpse and offer it to the gaoler in return for your release. this probably isnt believalble outside a game environment. the 'key' to this puzzle is this: seek the sight of departed, else forever rot. and this: till a day doth come, his sight regained put them together, and its pretty obvious... or so *I* thought. [Standard puzzle:] the man stands in a library I thought they were simple enough, but then again I made them up so I would think that . Perhaps I need to be less criptic in my wording?
Hey Liquid K9, could you send me an email so I can reply? You have email disabled on your profile and I wanted to contact you.
