Hi I have a lovely fast net connection (BT Infinity). High bandwidth, fast ping... So why does YouTube insist on playing most videos at 360p and then only switching it to a decent res after the first few seconds of playback? Any hacks around to force YouTube to always play at a high res. I'm fed up of switching everything to 720 or 1080 manually and even then it continues to play the lower cached video for a few seconds. It switches slightly quicker if I use the flash player in Chrome, but my browser of choice is Safari with the native playback. (Mac user) Ideas?
I thought there was a setting in your youtube account options to default to a higher res (I think it was 720) That no longer there?
There is a great userscript called "Youtube Center" that you could use. It has a ton of great settings, default quality being one of them. https://userscripts.org/scripts/show/114002
There is this for Chrome: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/auto-hd-for-youtube/koiaokdomkpjdgniimnkhgbilbjgpeak
